We moved to Houston to be near family. I do not like the weather here, but knew what it was like before we got here. We really love having family close. Son, DDIL, and 3 grands under 4 1/2. We've adapted well probably because of the friendly church we found.

Love where I am living now. Moved to be close to grandchildren and daughter. Glad to be out of the cold and snow. Do miss the fall colors of upstate New York. Would love it if the weather would be close to the same temp everyday. Not too hot not too cold.lol

My husband and I met when I was still in high school. He was a native born Floridian, I was a transplant by the age of 2, Grew up in the same town, he is a few years older than I am All of our families are here so we moved only 15 miles away. Now his family is gone, and mine is scattered but 2 of my sisters still live in FL. My brother is out in Calif. and youngest sister is in North GA.Hubby's brothers are really scattered , one is in prison for violating probation. Long story about him , I don't want to repeat it here.the two younger brothers are both out of state.

I live in Clarksville in the south central part of Michigan. Very small town about half way between Grand Rapids and Lansing. I was born and raised here and wouldn't leave for all the tea in China. I love small towns.

I think you make do with what you have. We pay close attention to where we are and truly enjoy the change of seasons here. All you have to do is watch nature and the changes from season to season are quite evident. Being in
Central Florida now, we have both palms and hardwoods. The hardwoods do change color, just later and last longer. We have some lovely maples that are bright red in January and February. We are on the eastern flyway for bird migration so twice a year we have tons of warblers feeding in our bottle brush tree out front. We see robins in January and February, usually without a hint of color unless they stay longer because of weather. Stop, look and listen. It is a beautiful world. This past season there were hawks that nested in Washington Square in New York City.

those are the hawks that return to the building overlooking central park year after year. in fact, the first female was injured and removed and the male took another mate. but you gotta love a city with this much diversity!

above are the washington square ones. more and more every year. doesn't say much for us, does it, when a bird has to live on a building?

I was born and raised on the coast of Oregon and have lived in several other states but came back here permanently 14 years ago. The only other area I really enjoyed was Coeur d'Alene, Idaho but only lived there for a little over 2 years.
