Know what you mean. We spend fall and half winter in east Texas. Last year they were really bad. I used to like them but when they fall on you when you're sleeping or fall in your dinner, silly things like that, they become a nusance. We even vacuumed them and released them outside. When we got home, we thought they were all gone. This spring when we uncovered our trailer to go again, here they came. Ugh!!!

i used to think i worked better in a mess, but last spring i lost some really important paperwork (receipt for a paid off student loan they were trying to collect again) so i dug thru every single thing in my studio, every box, every book, every pc of folded fabric... started on the north wall of shelves & worked my way around....

after i finally found the paperwork i needed (3/4 of the way down the last wall) i had the unhappy task of putting everything back together. so i took the time to organize the stuff for different crafts (painting floorclothes, cross stitch etc) and put it together neatly...

now all my fat quarters are in one place, all my cut yardage is in one place, and all my cutting tools are on the shelf under the cutting table, all my wips are in totes, with all the required fabric & the instructions.. i have found it so much more relaxing to spend time in that room... i would never have believed it.

now it gets dusted & vacuumed once a week, like the rest of the house, and i really prefer it... course dd 's job to dust & vacuum...

Mine is utter chaos and I still am missing 3 Christmas presents. I need to organize somewhat to fit in anotehr vintage lady that followed me home today. I have almost decided to swear off buying vintage ladies and fabric until I get it organized and cleaned and find my Chtristmas presents.

Mine is currently in a bit of a mess beccause my son is remodeling the front part of the basement and I have to put the "stuff" from there into the back of the basement where my studio is located. I'm trying to work around the mess, but it's difficult.
You can bet that as soon as the remodel is done, I will be cleaning and organizing my studio. I've been saving studio/sewing room pictures that other people have posted to both inspire me and to get ideas.
I, too, know that I work better in an organized, clean and decluttered environment. Now to get it that way :!: :!:

HAha! Saying you look like it was vandalized...reminds me when our 2 boys were about 2 and 4, they were playing in the lving room and I needed to go on an errand. So I just picked them up and packed them in the car, set the house alarm and went off. My husband called sometime later. He came home from work and found policemen in the yard - guns drawn - and pointed at the house. Turns out, when I left, I neglected to close the front door the whole way; it blew open and set the alarm off. When the police came, they saw the condition of the houuse and assumed that there was an intruder there still ransacking the house! Was I ever embarrassed!! But it has not helped my housekeeping skills at all. There is still a mess in the sewing room!
