I am still teaching, in what is call alternative education. My classroom next year will be with children whom are emotionally disturbed.
I wish I could retire this year, but if I work two more years I could get the house almost paid off.

I want to be retired so bad, I can taste it. I look over my investments, calculate over and over, run all those simulations online... and pray that it actually works out that I can retire in 8 more years!!

My husband is in "forced" retirement due to the construction industry. He used to build high-end homes, but we figure those days are gone for quite some time, and even when the economy turns, I believe people are going to have a whole new outlook on just how much house they really need (finally).
I'm afraid I'll never retire. I've been a stay at home mom since my first of three daughters was born 28 years ago. Since she is my special child, I'm still a stay at home mom!

I did 33 yrs od day care in my home...loved it...
then my sholders gave out...had one operated on and when the 2nd sholder started complaining I said thats it...I don't want to go thru that surgery again. I retired - then shortly after started doing intensive care foster care ..the pay is good and the most I can have in my home at any time is 2 kids. There is such a need for good homes. ICU foster care can be quite a challange but when You turn a life around...It is all worth it . I love doing it. I wish I had started sooner.. ! ! ! My HUbby is retired now too and we both love it..! !

I'm a retired art teacher. I know there is a lot of bad press about teachers' unions, but let me tell you, I owe my union a lot. They kept the standards high for all the teachers and the kids and now I have an excellent pension and benefits.
I taught for 38 years in an excellent, but not wealthy, district. Retirement is lovely. And now I am the back-up babysitter for all the working moms and dads where I live.
