I like to do the binding. For me, the hard part is the cutting. Probably because I broke one of my wrists years ago, and it doesn't bend correctly now. So I have no strength to hold the ruler and fabric and push the rotary cutter. But I've herd many say they don't like to bind.

I really enjoy doing the binding. It's like putting the ribbon on the package after it's wrapped.

If the long arm quilters do the binding they charge up to $.25 an inch. Think I'll start a binding business.

I attach my binding on the back and turn it to the front. I use a small zig zag to sew it down. The zig zag shows up less than the straight stitch. I put the zig on the binding and the zag in the quilt.

When I sew my binding on, I have a small thickness of painter's tape to guide it against so my binding is very straight and even.

I am going to hand do one quilt, 103" square. But that will be the first one in 10 years.

Longarmers put it on the quilt, but usually don't do the hand stitching. Ask, don't assume they are doing the handwork
