We camp a great deal and I have found that the best place to store them is under the mattress which has a wood bottom underneath. I also store my various rulers and so far, nothing has broken. I have stored my rulers at various times behind my sofa too.

Mine are under the couch. Easy to get to, but they are flat when not in use. I have 3 large ones and standing them upright might warp them too much. I live in a small place, so I can't leave them out. I had them under a scatter rug in the bedroom, but I did not want to walk on them all the time, so under the couch it is.

Why not under the bed?

It would have to be a large area rug or I could see the mats causing the rugs to move and scratch the floor and the mats.

My area rugs won't move unless I picked them up and the mats may interfere with the non skid mat under the rugs. I have extra mats stored behind my bookshelf in my sewing room. The back of the shelf meets the molding and leaves a small gap between back of the shelf and wall. Perfect for storing mats upright.

I would hate for someone to walk on it wearing stilettos. The only area rugs I have are one in the bathroom (non-skid) and 2 in the bedroom, one on each side of the bed. I am not a fan of rugs. Couple of my friends store theirs in large cardboard frame carriers.

I store mine under the bed. I have vinyl flooring. When I still had carpet, I left a large mat flat on it and days (well maybe weeks) later when I picked up the mat, the carpet was damp under it.

I have two mats one on my cutting table and one small on at the DSM for PP, trimming and quick checking for accurate size of blocks.

Never put away!

I'm assuming you don't ever walk on these rugs?
