Batting scraps, keep or throw out?
#162
Sorry I didn't read all the way through but wanted to add I use batting for my swiffer broom. I cut a piece the right size and use it to dust. I also use pieces to dust off my screen or around my sewing machine. I also like to use it to pick up broken glass. The little bits cling to the batting and I feel safe that I got it all.
I also love it for cleaning a DVD that the kids have made a mess of. It is soft and will not scratch as it cleans.

We use them for (cotton batt like Warm-n-White):
dogbed filler for shelter
dragon pillow filler (see avatar)
mini projects like small pursettes for daughter
trapunto designs
long strips are GREAT for purse handles / quilted totebag handles
shorty strips are great for soda-can wraps
Poly bat is great for inside jackets / snowsuits for quick repairs on grandkids' winterwear...
also used lots of the poly to make a quick pillow to keep my keester warm at NFL games... just layer scrap pieces together, trim new larger squares, layer, top with fleece/flannel & serge... then bind, nice soft sit-upon for 3-hour NFL games :) stadium seats are hard!

Don't waste them. You will need them in the future for small things or they can be sewn together. Batting is too expensive to waste. I keep mine in plastic containers. They hold a lot and are stackable.

I made a large pieced bag for my dog and kept it by my quilting machine. Each time I finished something, I stuffed the bag with the extra batting that was too small to use for anything else. My darling dog loves her new 'bed' in my sewing room.

My iron needed cleaning today. I decided to use a couple layers of cotton batting scraps sandwiched between paper towels to dob some iron cleaner on and then rubbed the sole plate on the cleaner until it was smooth and shiny. The padded surface helped get into the vent areas a bit better.
