I several partial blocks and added scraps to them to make blocks. Later I was able to use this "material" and the corresponding cotton batting"material" to make a dozen hot pads for our church kitchen. I found that creating something out of mish-mash scraps was addictive.

I love the look of scrap quilts. However, when I try to do them, I can't do it. I can't put two fabrics together that don't "go" together. I don't know how to get past this. So, I am stuck with tons of scraps and nothing to show for them!

I make scrappy quilts all the time, they are my favorite type of quilt to make, I especially like making the Roman coins quilt, as they go together very quickly and all I have to do is sew, not much thinking involved with that. But, you're right, no matter how many scrappy quilts I make, my scrap bin doesn't seem to get any lower!

My addiction right now is cutting small pieces of fabric into squares a la Bonnie Hunter. When I was unable to sew because of surgery, I decided to re-organize my fabric. I sorted out all the pieces too small to qualify as fat quarters, or too small to wrap on comic boards. I'm now in the process of cutting those pieces in to smaller strips, then in to squares for leaders and enders. I have projects I need and want to start, but can't quit cutting those strips! lol

I have been spending the last few night cutting 2 inch squares...its taking forever and the scrap pile looks the same. I have been doing scrap quilts for the last serveral quilts I have made and of course used my yardage for backing and borders so that might more scraps in the scrap bucket...the never ending scrap bucket...I am really trying to cut them all up in to 5inch and 2 inch.....that just may take me a year LOL...its slowly getting there. I can't wait to make a postage stamp quilt!!
