You can also use one of those door peep things to put it farther away. I learned that at a quilt camp and they are tiny enough to keep close by. Never heard about the mirror trick, might give that a try.

Door peep holes work GREAT!!!!! And a cheap tool.

That's a good idea! One guild member is very ocd about fabric placement and cannot be around me when I do scrappy or color choices blocks. She gets so upset that I don't care what color goes where. She gets very anxious and agitated but tries to hide it.
