I've made several blocks in blues and tan muslin and some in browns/rusts with the same muslin.

If you scroll through bearisgray's PDA, you can see some of them.

I made the blue ones with just the blue and tan like most of the blocks in Jane's quilt, and the browns/rusts with the tan and sometimes another shade to show off the design better. I like the look of some of the three-fabric blocks a lot better.

I think tiny prints work better because the pieces are so small. If using a larger print, placement of the pieces really does matter.

Choc lady, you should consider joining in the cyber sew...perhaps only to do a few, you never know, you might get hooked!

I don't know if I want to be called a "Janiac" ...still up in the air on that one.

Also, just noticed that Brenda signed my book with my name and all! I ordered it from her website, so she personalized it. That was sweet, eh?

You can also look through the (long) Dear Jane Christmas Swap thread to see some beautiful blocks in (mostly) greens, reds, yellows, and off-whites.

And there are a gazillion other sites here and on the internet for idea.

I think it's whatever colors appeal to you. I saw one at a quilt shop in the 1930's pastel prints. Quite a different look from the taupe/brown/tan exchange ones also displayed.

I am so interested in doing this with all of you. I just need to have a little time to think about and purchase material, software, etc.

Blue - what is the Aussie school schedule? You guys are out in December right? We will slow down quite a bit in December next year I'm sure, so hopefully it won't hurt you too much...

I found a website that requires you buy with min 15 yard orders, but it might be good for your background fabrics. I think we need something like 16 yards. I just ordered my background (although I already have 6 yards) but it was only $2.40 a yard, so I figured I would use it on other projects. It's a neutral, so not a big deal! I got an entire bolt, shipping included for $37! So, check it out if you are looking for a large quantity!

Our schools don't follow the same schedule as you guys. :-(
you could always change those sections on the schedule, as much as we'll be starting at the same time i'm sure as the months go by we'll all be at different stages in the process - life has a way of interrupting the best of intentions.
