My third quilt I made was a wedding quilt for our daughter. Since it was a California King size and I was such a newbie it took me over a year to make it. Then a co-worker was pregnant and we gave her a shower. I picked a quick and easy pattern, and whipped up the top in one evening. You should have seen my husband's jaw drop when I walked into the TV room and showed him the completed top. He couldn't believe I could do a quilt so fast!

I suppose that might be a reasonable time frame if no one expected you to be the head cook and bottle washer during that time...lol

I once made a large quilt, just alternating 5-6" squares and FMQ. DGD and Husband helped with some household things.

These DH's don't understand...mine doesn't understand at all why it takes me so long in the fabric store! Clueless they are, but loveable anyway.

it's not done yet?

It's a football wallhanging and it took me 2 days to find out the colors and information about the school before I could start.

Oh yes they live 300 miles away it has to be mailed too.
Don't you just love it when you are volunteered to do something - by someone who has no idea how long it takes to do it. - Give him a hug for me

Oh brother, bless his little pea pickin heart, he has no idea does he! Someone asked how long it takes to make a quilt? How do you answer that? There are so many variables, difficulty of pattern, is it appliquéd, paper pieced, size of blocks, etc. Is it hand or machine quilted? They looked at me sort of dazed, and I think they regretted asking.
