I keep a MS Word Doc with the date finished, what it looked like and for whom.

Then, I have a file with a corresponding picture.

I use Pinterest. I have boards with photos of finished and unfinished quilts, 2 or 3 on which I'm exploring quilt ideas, eg inspirations for the bright pink quilt that I'm making at the moment, and others for tutorials and techniques, quilts I like and art quilts. I also have a notebook in which I jot down anything I need to remember, eg supplies needed, maching settings, ideas for quilts.

I started keeping track when I began quilting in 2011 and daily just write down quickly what I am doing and the time. If there is something important, it may be notes on colors, place where I got the fabric and what was completed that day. I also take pictures as I go and upload them to a folder on my computer with the name of the quilt. I start with the stack of fabric and pattern, then I take pictures every so often during the construction. Take a final picture. At the end of each year, I burn a CD with all the pictures. I also make a calendar at Shutterfly for the up coming year with the previous year's quilts by month and a few notes on each one. That way I have a picture of one of my quilts on each month. I do it when they have a great sale at the end of the year.

Girlfriend

I've just recently, with my kid's urging, started to journal my quilts. I tried to come up with the easiest way to do this. As I work on the quilt, I keep scraps of notes about the quilt.

When I finish the quilt, I use the template I created, (attached), and drag a photo of the quilt onto the template, and print it out. Then I handwrite the information and put it in a binder. This saves me from having to add the picture later, which I probably wouldn't have time to do or remember to do.

I have attached my template, but you can use, if you wish, and personalize by deleting and adding information. Hope this helps.

What I do is take 2 pictures. 1 that is a 5 x 7 of the over all quilt the 2nd is a close up. Sometimes I even include a picture of the recipeint with thier quilt. I paste the pictures to a thicker white sheet of paper. At the bottom of the page I write who the quilt was made for and the date it was made plus any other info I want to remember. I put a couple pcs of the fabric in a small pouch and attached it. This is put into a binder. I have the year posted on the outside of the binder. Example 2012-2015. Now I have a record of what ,when and who I made quilts for. Plus I love to look back and see these over the years. My kids and grand kids will enjoy this someday when I am gone too.

Same here,no official journal but have pics of all on my desktop.When I get too old to quilt I can look at them and remember when.

Quilt Fan

I was gifted with a small quilt journal several years ago. One page has the picture and the opposite page has comments. Who made for, size, date, quilter, etc. Very simple. If it was more detailed would probably not keep it up to date. Have also given the journal to friends as gifts. Any booklet would do. It is fun to look back.

When I first started I used 8 1/2 x 11 sheets of card stock and put a photo of the finished quilt and also snipets of the fabrics, and inserted into a plastic sleeve and then into a 3 ring notebook.
Then I quit taking the time to do that and I am sorry now that I haven't continued.

I only have a list of the quilts I have made, the year I made them, a short description and who got it. I have pictures of them starting in 2007. I started quilting in 1966 or 67. I use to hand quilt but, in 2002 I taught myself to machine quilt.
My Son (oldest kid), has two I didn't remember making and not on the list. They were probably made in the 70s, I did recognize the fabrics used. Back then I used whatever fabric I had and I recognized the fabrics because I had made myself and kids clothes from them.

No I do not but LORD knows I sure wished I would have kept one and a picture of all the baby and regular quilts I have done and gave as presents or to the needy when a tornado tore through West Liberty, Ky back in 2012.
