I am always the first to see mistakes in my own work. I just finished a quilt for kids and didn't really want to show it to anyone, because it isn't perfect. Part my fault, (probably all), and part my machines. Everyone in my quilt class thought it was great.
You are your own worst critic. Just enjoy what you do and how it looks. Don't look for mistakes.

Same here. I'm always learning so I won't be too hard on myself. If I didn't like what I do, I would quit. I only "play with my material" to relieve stress. I'm not striving for perfection status just enjoying a hobby. cjomomma, You are one of my favorites on here.

Take it easy on yourself and find the level of quilting you are most comfortable with and enjoy yourself.

I found that I became stressed trying to make every quilt different from the last one, perfect seams, quilting, etc. until I realized I'm never going to be a great piecer or quilter. Now I aim to make as many quilts as I can for family, friends and charities. I have often challenged myself by trying new patterns and blocks, even curves and the dreaded Y seams, but D9P, 9 patch with snow balls, Chinese coins, pinwheels, stars and string blocks are my favorites. They are quick to do and by varying fabrics, colors and combination of blocks they each look different. So far none one has complained so I must be on the right track.

I agree with all the previous responses. I love seeing all the different quilts here, but know that I will never get to that level. But, I love the quilts I make, and they people who receive them, love them also. That is what counts in my book. Do what you like, and enjoy what others like. Do not give up something you love to do.

I love everything about quilting..it relaxes me..it allows me to be creative and make mistakes...it allows me to chose to rip it out or leave my mistakes alone...I can be hard on myself or allow myself artistic freedoms in thought as to "its fine the way it is"..I am my own worse critic and when it comes down to it...its only my opinion that counts. Allow yourself the artistic freedom and to love yours as much or more as everyone elses

I'm just curious but are you your own worst critic??? I know that no matter what I sew, craft, quilt, it's NEVER as good as someone else's. But I also think, I'm my worst critic and therefore, every little itty bitty flaw bothers me and therefore, it's not as good as someone else's who's flaws or imperfections, I NEVER see. Lighten up and enjoy the ride....quilting is a wonderful journey!!!

Have any of your family/friends told you they think you are a perfectionist? If this has happened, all of your work is most likely very beautiful but by being a perfectionist you are unale to see the beauty in your own creations. What ever the case, just pick projects you enjoy doing and have fun while working on them.

same here. my quilts have made my family happy so I'll keep making them as I enjoy the process. keeps me sane.

Quilting is an enjoyment which relaxes me and is an outlet to be creative. Don't stress, relax; and if your quilt does not look like someone elses, all the better because it is your creation.
