I have found that the number of posts will influence my choosing to look at a picture that I would not look at because of the title - let's say "log cabin quilt". I would not normally click on a picture of a log cabin quilt - just not my favorite. But, if there are 5 pages of comments, that will indicate that maybe this log cabin quilt is spectacular and I will then click on it. Have been really surprised a few times at posts that I would have missed if the page count was not so high.

I take the time to read responses on others' post before I comment. That way if a question has been asked and answered already I'll see it and can comment appropriately. That being said, if I see a post that doesn't grab my attention/interested, I just close it and move on to the next. I know I miss some posts, but like to try to keep up with as much as I can.

Like MTS, I use the archive to view threads. If it is a posting of a completed quilt and I have a comment I will always post it even if there are pages of comments already. If someone is asking a question I will read thru all the current posts and if I have something new to offer I will comment. I turned off all the mail notifications from the board, so every few days I'll go to the list of my posts and revisit the ones I was most interested in to see if something new has been added.

That is what I do too. I go straight to the bottom of the page and access everything through the archive. I like that it is constantly updated and turns purple after I have read it. This is my first thing in the morning pleasure as a drink a cup of coffee, enjoy posts and often read all the comments, especially if it is something I want to learn too. If I post, I will return for several days, so I can respond to any questions posted. This is my favorite site, well over any blogs or news I have subscribed to.

I don't get the digest form but go to Main and read the different threads. I don't understand though...does that mean I see all the threads or just some of them?
I always read every answer on a thread before I comment, but now I understand why sometimes I get a question that I have already answered on threads I have started. I never thought of skipping to the end to add a comment. Duh. Now it makes sense.

I wish I had time to read every page of every thread...but I don't, and like others, will usually just read the first few pages. I will comment if I think I have something that I can add to the thread, but usually don't repeat the same comments everyone else has read. If it is a thread I started, I would read every comment, no matter how many pages, and reply back if it seems it would be helpful. If it is a thread that I have commented on, and wanted more information, I will sometimes go back and look at it another time and see what else has been added.
