Does your husband understand?

My husband understands because he has his own passion for restoring old Chevys and guns, etc. I am a lucky gal. He has bought me so many quilting related items for Christmas, lamps, gift cards to LQS, sewing table and has encouraged me from the beginning 21 years ago. He thinks everyone should have a hobby they are passionate about!!

It is absolute bliss for me to make something by myself and then see the reaction of the recipient. Am I the only one with this problem?

In my case, I think my DH sees my quilting and quilting activities
as a source of relaxation for me. I work 11-12 hours a day. I have a very stressful job (that I do love) and when I am off "quilting" he knows this is my relaxation and my time to destress. He does not know the difference in fabric quality. He just know that when I let him go with me to one of my favorite quilts shops. He knows there is a chair when he can sit, where they keep the choclate and to just sit and chill because I am going to be at least and hour.

My DH understands. He does say that he thinks it is a shame that after all of my work I am going to give them all away like I do with my swedish weaved afghans. He always tells me they are beautiful. Then he says they are mine to do with what I want. The other day, I commented that I am not getting much housework done because of my quilting. He told me I have all summer to do housework so enjoy my quilting now. :)

Yes, my husband understands. I only started quilting last year so I am always buying for my stash. I started out with a table in our bedroom, then he decided to make me a sewing room. He is hanging everything that needs to be hung on the walls and has even run cable in so I can have my TV. But now he says that he misses me being in our room sewing. He even helped me on the first quilt I made and plans to help with more. He has even asked me to make quilts for other people.
The other day he called me and I asked him if I could call him back because Hobby Lobby was closing and I had to get my material cut. He laughed and told our daughter "She has it bad"!
I love my Hubby!!

It took a while for my DH to understand, but after keeping my quilting contained to the time he fished, and getting a LOT done (!), it was easy. I just remind him of the fun he has shopping - for fishing gear, and using the gear! Now I have the piecing/quilting out most of the time, and get to grab a little time to quilt most days.

My hubby understands all too well with me. He is actually amazed when I cut clothes up & make a quilt from them!
He also helped me with the 5 grandchildrens I SPY quilts, by that I mean, he helped me with the layout of the blocks for each quilt. Now to get that sashing sewn together & get the quilt tops done. What a keeper! :)
