I think you should speak to the manager

I agree this is the way to go, let us know the response :)

The width can legitimately vary from as narrow as 20 inches to as wide as 22.5 inches - depending on the width of the fabric.

However, cuts shorter than 18 inches and crooked really tick me off - I don't know any way around it except to open the pack and measure the pieces in the store if one wants to avoid the being upset when one gets home bit.

And that goes over about as well as a floating brown log in a punch bowl!

Return if unopen, then how would we know if they are bad? Thank you for warning, won't buy fat qtrs or jelly roles from them at all.

Agree with this. They may not realize. Best to bring to their attention first, and ask them to make it good for the ones you bought that were bad.

I think they have been told - over and over and over -

I think they just figure that if only one out of a hundred or so customers actually bring the product(s) back, they are still ahead of the game if they short each piece by even 1/8 of an inch.

Yes, say something to Joanns store. I'm sure it has happened to others and maybe they will re-think the cutting of the fat quarters in a bundle.

My friend sent me a chart of fabric 'sizes' - the top one was for the fat quarter and said '18 x 21'.

Note to self - never buy fat quarters with directional designs AND never buy fat quarters if the pattern requires 18 x 22 inches.

I seem to recall that JoAnn's changed suppliers a while back because of problems like this. They need to be told if the FQs are not acceptable. They don't want this problem either.
