Have fun! I've been to Vegas but didn't have time to browse fabric shops.

I have never had the chance to go to quilt shops when we've been there..maybe next time I will. We don't gamble either we go for the shows and the food. And we got married there 4 years ago in Sept...Elvis and everything! =)

I think that the quilt shops in the Vegas area try not to compete with each other. I was talking to the gal at Christmas Goose and she was telling me where to find what I was looking for. I think it was something Asian. She told me that Fab Boutique had a huge selection. They all know each other I think and just do it as a courtesy. There is so much out there fabric wise, it is hard for any one to carry everything.

I do think that this specializing is a fairly common practice with quilt shops. I know that the ones in New Braunfels, TX do the same thing. One shop had mostly modern stuff and Moda, that sort of look, and the other one downtown had mostly civil war and classics. Same when my daughter and I went to some quilt shops around the Simi Valley area. Well, within 20 miles anyway. I was surprised how specialized some of the shops were. My daughter likes 30's and that sort of thing, but not too pink and modern. The shop in Simi has lots of pink and girlie stuff. She never took me there till recently, because it was not her thing. But I loved it.

I did this tour in May. It was wonderful. We were only in town for 3 days so it was well worth it. Susan Tracy, owner is a give a great tour. She gives you the highlights of each shop so it helps to know what your looking for for fabric and notions, and then there lunch at a great little resturant called Sweet Tomato's, I think? If you go don't forget to try their bread!!! It was so good I skipped desert and had a second slice.
For a tourist its a great deal.

It seems expensive to me, however cheaper then five minutes at a slot machine. Plus these shops are miles apart and not that easy to find so it might be worth it for a tourist. The shops in Vegas are all very different.

Quiltique is in Henderson, but probably worth a visit. They are a Bernina dealer but mostly a huge fabric shop. They have most everything new and the shop is quite light and open.

Also in Henderson, but downtown is Sew Obsessed. Her shop is really new, but she has beautiful stuff, and is so sweet. Very friendly store.

Then there is Fabric Boutique on Charleston, which has been mentioned. Also a very nice and very big shop. Great specials there most of the time. Not much info on their website, but a great shop.

My favorite shop is a little one called The Christmas Goose. I always find what I need there. The space is small but packed with beautiful things and the best place for inspiration or shopping. They are also super friendly there.

The last one that I know about, is Fiddlesticks. It is out in Boulder City. Very nice shop with lots of fun things. I have only been there once, but I found lots of stuff, of course.

Well, hope that helps.

This may seem a bit sick, but on our last trip to Las Vegas I spent more time in quilt shops than casinos. I think I hit them all. The ones I remember -- when a shop is willing to ship my purchases for me I tend to buy more (LOL):

Quiltique in Henderson, Fabric Boutique, Uncommon Threads and Sew Little Time.
