I like having a Big Board, makes ironing yardage and quilt tops much simpler. My friend and I made 2 Big Boards, one for me and one for her. It wasn't too hard, got all the lumber cut at Lowes or Home Depot. Dh showed us how to put them together. I bought one of the heavy duty ironing boards at Target, a flimsy ironing wouldn't hold it.

I really want a "big board" ironing surface/cutting area. My husband thinks this is a ridiculous idea because the bigger board will be unstable. I disagree!
So where can I fin big board or instructions to make one.
    Thanks for any assistance

I know it sounds trivial, but just today, while watching a quilting video, I discovered the automatic needle threader - I'm pretty sure that was the most valuable thing (for me) in the video! I am now at "that age," and no matter what glasses I try, I cannot see the needle eye to thread it - sometimes not even well enough to use one of those little wire threaders. It's been quite aggravating, especially with small and fine needles. I'm putting that automatic needle threader on my list of things to buy with my next 50% off coupon at Michael's or Jo-Ann.

Tell him that is not his problem, it will be yours.

I have a vintage Necchi that I use for FMQ and it is wonderful. I paid $65 plus $125 rewire and service. You don't need to spend big bucks!
