Default Help finding pattern

My oldest grandson (he will be 12 next week) wants me to make him a pixelated quilt similar to the picture in this link: http://bedzine.com/blog/bed-designs/...ixelated-beds/
Does anyone know if there is a quilt pattern for purchase that is close to this pattern? If I can figure out how to do this it will be the 6th quilt I've made so I am not an experienced quilter but I've been sewing for 36+ years. thank you in advance for your help.

There are patterns for the labels that are made up of squares that you scan with your smart phone for additional information. I forgot what they are called but lots of free patterns for them.

I think they're called "QR" codes or something like that?

I found this: https://www.google.com/search?q=pixe...A&ved=0CC8QsAQ

Google pixilate and some come up. Have fun! It looks like you could just put colored squares here and there to make the cover in the picture you linked.

Here is a link to one: https://themodernquiltguild.wordpres...tured-quilt-1/ and if you click on the quilt picture it comes up larger and you can see all the squares. Her squares were 1 1/2'' I think she posted. Maybe all this will help?

Here are instructions on how to turn a picture into a pixilated quilt, http://www.craftsy.com/blog/2013/12/...quilt-pattern/
This is a more detailed tutorial, and doesn't just focus on photos http://m.instructables.com/id/Quilti...ue-pixelation/
Hope these give you some ideas, happy quilting!

My friend makes really pretty pixilated quilts using counted cross stitch patterns. Each stitch is a small square. You can also get a pixilated image if you enlarge a picture on a copier. I don't know what percent you have to enlarge at. 500% or so.

I say use 3-1/2 inch squares. Then do a a 15 or 18 inch block. Do various colors in each block using the color palette your grandson wants. It will all work fine. A design wall will help as will a pattern drawn on graph paper. Label each block so it will be sewn correctly. It is simple sewing. Just keep the design correct. Luann
