I'm not sure I understand what you are saying.

you take off the the cording area of cover. and reattach on new material... i guess instead of making your own new casing ... hope that helps..molly

If you make your own, use a light colored fabric. I used camoflage and it will last forever, but I don't like it. I also stitched some knit around the edges and then made a casing. I don't like the skimpy tie-on ones and mine does not slip. It has been used a number of years.

Strange as it sounds, I found my ironing board cover at the hardware store. Rather, my husband did!! I like the covers that have a silvery finish - something about reflecting the heat back up in to what you are ironing. I looked at Walmart, Target, KMart and online. Before my husband headed to the hardware store one Saturday morning, he asked if I needed anything. I said yes, the ironing board cover. The owner's wife happened to be working that morning and knew exactly what I was talking about. She ordered me one and I had it in less than a week! Under $10, too!!

[I don't use a pattern I just lay the fabric out on the ironing board and cut about 4" below the top. ]

You can use this method and make a new board cover every now and then, to suit your fancy of the moment! My BGF says she never knows what kind of cover I'll have on next.

And I do this same thing, with the Insulbrite fabric. It makes a great ironing board cover.

I got one of the silver ones at Anna's Linens. I think it was about $5 too. I'd been looking for one as I washed my other one and the padding fell apart.
