It looks good to me. I made this quilt from a kit. I quilted it in edge to edge design going over the dragonflies. It won a first place ribbon at a local show.

I was going to suggest echo quilting just before you posted that was next. It looks wonderfully awesome in every respect!

I did one of these for my daughter. I did small circles around the dragonflies and used straight lines outward from there to the edge of the quilt. when I got finished the straight lines made the dragonflies look more like they were in flight.
I used a light yellow for the circles and a black for the lines. The I began the lines at the corner in an angle to the dragonfly and then they were eventually straight. I quilted from the corner to the middle and then went to the opposite end and came toward the middle. Hope this makes a little sense.

It is beautiful! I do think the use of thread that blended into the background is a great choice. The appliques is so lovely that it deserved center stage and not have to compete with the background. I really like the effect of 'light' around the center of the piece. Wonderful outcome; now, all that is left is to enjoy it!
