i'll tell you a secret. feel free to pass it along the grapevine.
the number of responses a topic gets doesn't necessarily indicate how good that topic is, or how much value it adds to our community.
the best topics are those that are posted to share our projects; to share useful information; to ask positive, constructive questions so we can learn from each other; or that otherwise contribute to the fun, sharing, learning, and happiness here.
one of those with only a few responses contributes oobledy goobledy buckets and boatloads more than a complaining topic that generates page after page of sympathy and anger. ;-)
keep up the good work. we all love you. cross my heart. even if we don't say it often enough. ;-)

I'm sure a lot of us have had this problem a time or two. I once ask a question and got a few answers. Then I checked 'my posts' a couple of days later and there were pages of comments that had been added on. I was surprized but glad to read all that was said.
So, just keep posting. I've never had a question not answered ..... and I've learned so many things that have helped me improve something about my quilting. I only hope I can help someone out there that needs an answer to something they are doing.

it is not you!! i have posted several topics, and some have made and some did not.....usually, if it is a personal question, like which scissors to use for a particular project, it will not get posted, but if it is something that everyone has an opinion, like quilt stores throughtout the usa, then it will get posted......gina

I have posted several times also and was surprised to see it was not listed under new topics for the day. When I respond to an existing post it shows up almost right away. Still confused about what gets posted and when you have to send it in. I have posted late hoping to see it the next day, was not there. Also posted early (not at 4 am!!) but about 9 am, wasn't there either. I'll keep trying.

Is it a timing issue or does someone decide what is deemed worthy of the other posting page? Just wondering?

Don't confuse the Message Board/Quilting Board/Forum with the Digests. The board is here all the time, 24/7/365. all you have to do is come here ( http://www.quiltingboard.com ), log in, and fish around. in fact, you can select an option that will log you in automatically as soon as you get here. couldn't be easier.
Digests are emails automatically sent by our server software to subscribed members. To subscribe, or to change your current subscription settings, go to this web address:
http://www.quiltedparadise.com/supportcenter.jsp
It's extremely important that everyone understand that the digests only point toward a teeeeeeeeeeny tiny smattering of the topics posted here. If a member relies only on the digests to get here, or as their only method of keeping up with the neighborhood, she will miss most of what's going on. "Reading the digest" barely scratches the surface of everything available here.
The Digests are the least efficient way of keeping current. if you routinely come straight to the board and surf around on your own to check the latest happenings, you'll never need the digests.
Here's my own routine:
1. I set the board as my browser home page so i come straight here as soon as i hit the internet. (other options include putting a shortcut on your desktop, or adding the board to your browser favorites/bookmarks.)
2. I check my private messages by clicking on the "Private Messages" link at the top of the page. Once I've read and answered all my new mail, I
3. Click on the "Watched Topics" link at the top of the page to see the latest developments in topics of special interest to me. Once I've looked at all of those, I
4. Click on the "Unread Topics" link at the top of the page so I can see everything that's brand new since I last visited the board. After that, I
5. Click on the "Recent Topics" link. That takes me straight to all of the topics that have been updated since I last visited the board.
After that, i use the links at the bottom of the page if i want to go straight to a particular section ... just in case i missed anything.
The board is open 24/7/365. Join me, brothers and sisters! Declare your independence from the digests! Come to the board whenever you want! Go wherever you want! Read and contribute at any time of the day or night!
Revel in the freedom! (Picture a smiley, standing on a mountain top, hair blowing in the breeze, flags flapping all around, blazing sunset behind, birds singing, crowds below roaring with joy and laughter, dancing in the streets.)

Thank you, Patrice. I just recently figured out how it's supposed to work. I think these guidelines should be sent to all new members! I can't imagine how much I've missed out on since I found the Board. Now that I know how it works I can spend more time on here! :D Which, by the way, I love.
