I agree with Lori S, I start cleaning an area that has been neglected and guess what, before I know it I've found something I had forgotten and now I'm excited again. I also love to go through all my magazine and books when I am feeling like that.

I go through this on a regular basis especially after christmas because we are alllllllll so busy then but I have gone through it here lately too. What I do is spend my time looking through quilt books and quilt magazines and also search the blogs to see what can ispire me to get started. by the end of the day I usually have something that is speaking too me. sometimes you just need a few weeks off too but never fear it will come back.quilting is like a good friend it will always be in the backround otherwise we would never ever spend as much money on this hobby as we doooooooooo lols

I am in that spot myself right at the moment... I think some of the ladies are right, just get in there & do something, start that block, or straighten your room and wonder thru some books... something will catch your eye and get you going again... me I cleaned a little while then sat down & started sewing... I finished a top before I stopped so it seemed to work... this site is wonderful also as there is so many good people out there helping you out!!!

If I push myself when not in the mood I make lots of mistakes too. I'm also just not in the mood lately. My husband was sick for a week, then I caught it and was sick for a week. I just don't have energy, and seem to be moody, yeah angry and as odd as it may sound I just don't feel like myself. I want to work on something but end up just sitting and staring at it. Whatever is going around, virus?, kicked our butts.

I know how you feel ...I am just coming out of a slump lasting months. I was questioning why am I doing this..I will never be any good. We also got a new puppy, which did not help in the least. He needs constant attention going out to the bathroom. Also he had an obsession for running around with my fabric. Anyway, things are getting better and the urge to make something is coming back. It has been a long, hard, cold winter!!

    Thanks guys! :)
I actually sat down after awhile and completed the top that had been sitting for a month or two. It just needed borders. Then I went to sandwhich it and realized I didn't have enough batting. Bummer. So, I went and got a UFO that I had been working on...couldn't start cuz I know I don't have enough fabric. Then, I started pulling out quilts that just need to be completed and out of the house. For one reason or another I wasn't able to work on those either!
Then my daughter woke up. I felt good that I had gotten that top done. :)
All your advice is great. Just need to pick something up and start.
Have a fantastic day ladies and gents!

I assign myself twenty minutes a day even if the idea of sewing is repulsive. Works every time, and I often get QB. I also keep a box of simple stuff, like two inch squares around, may just sew them together for twenty minutes.

Pick up your kitchen timer, grab a project... new or old. Tell yourself that you are going to work on this for 15- 30 minutes. Set the timer and Just Do It!

You will be surprised that after the time goes by... you still want to work. It's the getting started that's hard. If you do this every day, or every other day you will be amazed at what you get completed. One you see some progress, you will feel better.

I find myself sometimes sitting here at the computer reading way, way too much. I have been known to set the timer for this forum too.

I use my kitchen wind up timer more in my sewing room than in the kitchen.

    Hope this works for you.
