When nothing jumps out sometimes I just grab some fabrics and do a single block. Other times I cut my scraps into strips and squares. Good luck - it will pass.

As for the heart surgery, I went through my 3rd one in December 2009, and it took me probably 6 months. Surgery is really hard on your body and soul, so just sit back and look at the good things you have around you and what you have to be thankful for..I found that very hard to do, but it does help!! Hope you are feeling better!
Me too! Sending you healing quilty thoughts!
Thank you both: Michelehuston and RatherB Quilting. I appreciate your kind words and well wishes. I'm doing fine and am for the most part healed. I just want to get back to sewing, but the desire is waning. I hope to get back to it soon. I just need to get out of my slump. The QB really helps. Thanks to all of you.

I was in your shoes the whole summer of last year. I had lost all of my interest in quilting. I was at the point where I considered giving my stash away. I came across this quilting board and my life changed. I met so many good people here and so enjoyed seeing the pictures of all the beautiful projects. I joined the BOM for the houses and stars never thinking I could ever paper piece and somehow I did it. The projects have taken me through many a snowbound day here and time has flown. Somehow you will get the will to quilt again. I don't know how but somehow it will come back to you. Don't give up.

Wow, are you talking about me??? I have fabric for three tops I am excited about, organized and folded yesterday and just can't step foot in my sewing room today, okay honestly more than 3 weeks - really need to get started. I did start a new job 3 weeks ago and the intensity is kicking my hiney. So guess I just need those big girl panties and just do it, yep working on it at least!

Haven't "conquered" quilters block. When I'm in a quilting rut I don't try and force an idea. I've learned in any creative artistic thing I'm do I can't just squeeze an idea out of nothing. So I let life take its course and then eventually---maybe while looking at the tiles on a floor, skimming through a quilting magazine, or playing a new video game---a spark will light up in my head and I'll come up with something

I tell myself, "I'll just sew (or clean, or file, or whatever it is I am not wanting to do right now) for 10 minutes, then quit". Set the timer, and start. Most of the time, I'm surprised when the timer goes off how much has been completed already, and often just want to keep on going now that I've made so much progress.

Have a quilting friend come over and have a quilting session (I can't do this, no close friends quilt). Join a quilt group or take a class (I'm pretty competitive so this used to get me going).

Try going on youtube and doing a search for a new technique. I can usually get really inspired when someone is doing something I'd love to learn and they make it look so easy. I've been looking at tutorials here and on youtube and I'm dying to get started but I have no place to set up my machine til we get moved, and we can't even look at a house til this darn snow goes away.

I have some "no brainer" project at the machine to work on.
I just bought one of the Accucut cutting machines. In practice I cut some 2" squares. So when I need a break or have a block I sew a few together. One day I will have enough for a small quilt and it helps motivate me to do other things which I am getting stressed out over.
