I ordered one from Connecting Threads (cheaper) and it's super for applique, handpiecing, or mending, all the colors needed in one place.

I want to get a second doughnut to hold my threads that are not 100% cotton. Besides, I've run out of space so I sort of need another one.

If you put a golf tee through the bobbin hole, then you can stick the golf tee into the hole on the spool of matching thread. Keeps matching threads together.
Might your husband have some golf tees that he wouldn't miss??
