Have you thought about making a Chevron design? I made a turq./white Chevron quilt for a best friend for her Christmas present- turned out beautiful even if I did make it. She loves it, and turq. is her favorite color. You might consider the Chevron design.

I have about a million quilt books and last night I was looking at one: Sew Quick Two-Color Quilts. One of the quilts is called "Butterfly at the Crossroads" and is made with red and black fabrics. It is a fancy Bear's Claw. There are many quilts in this book: Burgoyne Surrounded. Old Maid's Puzzle, Ocean Waves, Double 9 Patch.

The book is copyrighted 1998 by Leisure Arts, no author.

Living in Alabama, maybe she needs to learn the joys of internet fabric shopping. Just a thought.

Everyone keeps talking about a 2 fabric quilt.......I thought she gave you TEN red/black prints. Are the prints all the same? I've seen many red/black quilts without white that looked great. Good Luck.

How about a Dresden plate? Prints make the plate, set on the black. You might need to sash it with white, but my guess is that it would be a stunner. froggyintexas

What about just wide strips. I had to do that with one of my grandsons. A black strip a red/blk
then blk then red/ blk
he loves it.
The red/blk was a college team

I think that this quilt would be lovely in red and black. Use the red where the quilt is white and the black for the blue. Let us see what you finally do make.

Dina, your quilt is exactly the one I thought of when 2 color quilt was mentioned! I have the picture saved on my computer in my "to do" file!

She went to Joanne's and bought 20 fat quarters - 10 red/black print, 10 solid black. When I opened it, she was so happy for me to see it, and asked me if I could make a quilt out of it. I thought a bit, then told her that yes, I was sure I could, and that I might add in another fabric, thinking of white or even a white/black print, thinking of a Disappearing Nine Patch. OH NO! She wants no other fabric in the quilt. She said she did not care what size it is, but she wants no other fabric included, unless it is more of the exact same. So as I said, NOW what do I do? Sure would love to have your suggestions. And to top it all, it's not the best quality fabric. Grrrrrr!
this is her gift to you----------for you to make a quilt out of the fabric she gave you? @@

Can you lay the fabrics out and show her where an additional fabric might come in handy?

Tehn on the other hand, you can do as she asks and then post a disclaimer to it.
