I was told I'd need approx 100 hours before I'd feel like a Pro. That was correct. Though after the last bit where I couldn't quilt for over 6 months, I had to relearn everything. The nice thing was that the learning curve the second time around is much quicker.

I'd suggest you learn - by reading and playing around - your particular machine. Then see if there is someone who gives LA lessons nearby. Most techniques do transfer between machines.

Charity quilts make excellent practice pieces. The folks are so glad to get even what we don't like.
