Hi,

When I use my bobbin winder I do the same thing that I do when using the winder on my machine. I noticed that on both the thread would not necessarily wind evenly. With that said, I help to quide the thread as it is loading on the bobbin. I help to make sure that the thread is going up then down and back again in an even load.

Hope this tip helps.

It measures out square (or pretty close, at least). I think the way I photographed it makes it appear more like a rhombus (is that the right shape? Or maybe parallelogram?) OR, I may just not be seeing the problem, which is also very possible given my fairly limited experience in quilting on my own. Previously, I had my grandma's expert help :)

When all else fails, I always turn off my machine and also un-thread, then turn back and and reload the thread and bobbin. Sometimes that does the trick for me.

Guess I'm different, but I think the pale color for quilting would not add to it what you want. Use thread that matches the sashing. You will see a beautiful frame for each block.

In a child's quilt, rather than just plain quiltinhg, I use a decorative stitch, eeither machine or hand.

Yeah, I ended up doing daisies :) If I end up with some spaces where I would want the quilting closer together, I might sub in a few hearts.
