I'm getting a "small" sewing room - need some tips!

I recently reorganized my sewing room which is roughly 11x11 with 2 doors and one window.
Initially I had cabinets along one wall and had my sewing table facing the cabinets. Now I changed it to where my sewing table is facing the window. I have storage behind me and flanking the window. Using cabinets with glass doors helps my need for visual display.
IKEA has lots of storage solutions for small spaces. That's where most of my stuff is from.

I have a room about that size but it has three entry/exit doors, closet door (DH's clothes closet) and large picture window. Vertical became a necessity. We did make a couple of purchases that have proven very helpful. An old dining table from a thrift store, with flatware drawers (which house my most used notions, thread, needles, snaps, lots of small things, using flatware dividers and trays to keep things organized) and pretty good cutting area. DH installed electical strip on the other side, which was a great help. Also purchased an old lateral four drawer file cabinet. Great place to house fabric, tools, patterns, etc. Last, a heavy gauge wire baker's style rack. I have it at the wall end of the dining table, I can stack on it as well as hang from it with "s" hooks. Under the dining table are plastic bins and DH installed a fairly deep shelf, just above the bins. This is also the family computer room. Oh yes, a TV goes on top of the lateral file cabinet very nicely!

Cngratulations on your new room, that is very exciting and I know everone is excited for you. When I got my first sewing room it was the little front porch, it was already in closed, had wiring, etc. Was so very nice and about half the size of your new room. You actually have a very good size room. Have lots of fun getting it fixed up :lol:

Congratulations. Even though it is a small space lighting always seems at a premium as well as outlets. If you can get some additional outlets on the new wall that would be great and provides flexibility in placing machines and irons. And will you need a little heater or AC in the room?
Also agree with everyone with having to go vertical with shelves, bookcases or cabinets.
