I say amen and I agree with you 110%! I've taken several classes and noticed quilters just stressing over every little imperfection. Maybe it's because I'm older and retired, but when I started quilting I decided that for once I wasn't going to drive myself crazy with my quilting. After all, for me it is a hobby.

AMEN! Perfection is an illusion. I used to hesitate showing my quilts because I thought they weren't as "perfect" as others who had been quilting longer until I realized that mine are also beautiful. The comparisons don't make any sense. Those who have their "imperfect" quilts in the national magazines and in the quilt shows are pleased enough with their quilts to show them. I'm joining them and CMWORALL who started this email string! THANKS!!

We should all let the sentiment into the rest of our lives, too. I read a letter, the only letter, from an ancestor who asked the reader to forgive her dress size in the enclosed pic. Meaning, forgive my fat butt! Is that really how she wanted to be remembered for generations?

I was reading a national quilting magazine the other day and noticed that the quilting was really off on one. Part of it was a 9 patch and it was quilted with "X's" in the squares and they were not straight by a LONG SHOT! Now PLEASE know that I don't mean any disrespect or offense to anyone. But I just thought to myself, here I am beating myself up because I can't get something totally perfect and here is a quilt in a national magazine that isn't perfect either. Now maybe it was supposed to be that way for the "charm" of it, but my resolution this year is to just do my best and have fun with my quilting and not beat myself up anymore! :)
LOL
I have done the very same thing sometimes even on here. Seems I always see the mistakes. But I am like you I will just do my best and then leave the rest up to God.

This topic was meant for me to read! I am so hard on myself that I will constantly rip out stitches if they weren't perfect.
