I got mine from Quilters Club of America. It has to be renewed every year. I believe they are good through August 31 of each year. Here in Oregon, it cannot be used with coupons, but on everything else, including sale items.

This has nothing to do with VIP cards but JoAnn Fabrics makes soo mad. I went in to buy batting as it was half price (warm & natural) I wanted 12 yards. The roll she had only had six. I said, there is a box there that isn't opened. She asked ME if it was the same stuff. I didn't know but go look!!! She did brought the box up. Made all kinds of comments about me getting soo much. She called for help from a clerk. The big roll knocked down some stuff on the counter which she wasn't happy about. If she was more careful and wasn't so mad because I wanted 12 yards she would have done fine. Then she is saying she (me) will need a semi to take this out, it could have been cut in 6 yard pieces. Well if I wanted two 6 yard pieces I would have asked for that. There were some other comments but I couldn't hear. Anyway I got my bundle from the disgruntled clerk and did not need a semi to get it home. The attitude just FROSTED ME!!. I also bought a couple things at 50% off. You would think they would be happy to have a sale. I don't buy material there but I like the batting sale and accessory sales. I wish I had a store I could go to closer but the next store is 200 miles away. Oh well I just go there when absolutely necessary.

I only had to show my ID to get the card. After that I haven't shown it again. It is up at the end of August, but easy to renew. If you ask at the check out they will sign you up as well.

you think you made them mad. My mom & I asked for the entire bolt & they couldn't tell if it was a new roll or not so they measured it all out. all 40 yards of it... But they were really nice about it by the end we had a method. But $5.99 a yard plus the VIP card it was a good deal. My mom has a Gammill so we just store it on the pole under the table and only have to buy it when it's on sale. it's fantastic

You know Mortinarose, it's not easy to find anywhere lately that offer of quality "customer service" as it should be. With WalMart, it's disappearing clerks, with JoAnn's it's the grumpy clerks, with some Quilt Shops is the don't bother me attitudes.
I personally worked at a JoAnn's for a length of time as an assistant manager and had customers that came in looking for me and called to see if I was working during special sales and this made me feel special. I did go out of my way but found I learned a lot from my customers when they shared their ideas.
But to be honest I had a few really horrible customers come in, one in particular was being rude to me and others because the lines were so long during a special sales day. She actually went so far as to come around the counter to remeasure what she thought I had done incorrectly - 11 yards of fabric (come to find out she would have had an extra 5 inches of fabric with my cut) but when she came around to the back of counter she actually shoved me with her hip causing me to lose my balance. Many in the store were very shocked. The manager came to my rescue and escorted the customer out and asked her not to return. The probelm only got worse. This manager was doing the right thing but was repremanded by Corporate Office after getting a heated phone call from the customer complaining. In so many of these large chain stores, they restrict the number of hours the manager can distribute to the employees causing shortages of clerks during special sales this in returns causes "impatient" customers. It's not easy working on the other side of the counter and I do recall those days and try to find a positive way to make things better for them and me. Though you are a bit miffed with this clerk, I have to wonder what put this grumpy tone on her heart. It just may be time for her to find another job.
And we lost our JoAnn's to a collapsed roof this past winter, have missed it dearly, I've gotten use to ordering my batting on the website when it's on sale and will be at the grand re-opening when they complete the remodeling this November. We all have bad days but on the positive ones we should also see how we can make things better for those serving us. It's not easy to work for minimum wages, especially when you don't know from week to week if you will have 30 hours on the books or only 12. I do know that JoAnn's did that to me quite often when sales were down.

This really doesn't have anything to do with VIPs at JoAnn's.
I happened to be in Walmarts yesterday with my husband as he shopped.
I walked through the fabric dep't. There were 2 clerks leaning on their elbows on the cutting counter.
I said, " I've been told you 2 are the best clerks in this fabric dep't.
First response, "WHAT?", so I repeated myself.
Boy, you should have seen the look on their faces! I really got their full attention even though I didn't buy anything.

I think this is the link to the QB card that some have made reference too.

I have a VIP card & it is good for a year & you get your 10% off on practicaly everything!
Just ask the manager for the card they have to sign them. & you can use it at any Joanns. I was a member of QNN & no one around here acepted them! Joanns is not just for Teachers it's for anyone! Enjoy it! You also get a sale paper with extra coupons' & you still use your card!

You go to Joann's with your membership card from a quilting guild and ask for a VIP card. It is free but you do have to have proof that you belong to a guild or quilting organization.
