DH has decided to splash out on a long arm for me, am thrilled and really excited about it- am now onto my third quilt! My local dealer has these two models-both are on special offers at the moment. Without trade in on my machine-1495 Euros for the 7700 and 1140 Euros for the 6600, I think its approximately 1200 dollars for the 7700 and 950 dollars for the 6600. Not sure if this conversion is entirely accurate.

Anyhow I know the 7700 has a bigger throat but what would be the difference between the two, was wondering what I would get on the 7700 that isn't on the 6600.

Which one would you get?? Would love to know your views!!

I don't have either one. From what I have read, you would want a real long arm. Google long arm sewing machines and you will see they are more money and go up to about an 18-26" throat. You need room for the quilt to roll. One of these machines would be great for quilting from a table but, not on a frame. I am sure others will give you more info.

Hi there- oh I am sorry, I didn't know there were long arms that long!These were the widest in the shop so I just assumed they were the long arms...These two are in my budget for now so have to pick either of these or they also have a Viking Quilt 875 which I don't know anything about. They are a big step up from my entry level machine.
I have looked at a few of the threads on here but cant seem to find what the difference is between the 6600 and the 7700. Hopefully someone may be able to tell me. The Viking is a lot cheaper but seems to have the same specs also....

Just FYI, these are NOT Longarm machines, they are domestic tabletop machines with larger HARPS (9"-11") but very different from the longarm machines like Gammill, Nolting and others.
Don't know about the conversion rates, but those are VERY good prices for both if correct. The 7700 has been selling (here in the US) for anywhere from $2000-$2900, and the 6600 sells for about $1300 and up. The newer 7700 has more bells and whistles, a different auto-throat plate, but the 6600 has most of the same great features for less $$. I have the 6600 and love it ! It can handle anything you want it to do.
Check out Janome's website and you can get all their specs and compare. You can't go wrong with either one.

It is to each their own views of these two machines. Personally you won't go wrong purchasing either one. I settled on the 6600P, as it offered everything I wanted and needed...I didn't feel that I would utilize the 7700, my 6600p came with a table also. Does either of the machines you are looking at come with the table? It was a nice perk for me. But really go to Janome site and do a comparison.

Oh thankyou so much..its confusing when you go into the shop and there are so many to choose from. One thing I do know though is that many on here love their Janomes!! I am sorry for any confusion regarding the long-arm and will know next time, so thanks for the advice regarding the true longarm and not just a larger harp.
I asked the man in our store what the janomes come with and he just said 'everything'!!!! So am assuming a table and feet but will check that out.
Yes the prices are right as of today..its a special deal till end next week, possibly our conversion rates make it look more appealing as well..I know he told me the 7700 was 2000 Euros previouslly which converts to around 2,400 dollars. So those prices may revert after next week when the promotion finishes.

I agree with Texas Gurl what she wrote... and of course everyone else... I just purchase a New Janome 7700 QPC...NO Regrets !!!!( I was also look'in at the 6600 just like yourself) I did a lot of research , talk to people who own's one, on the Janome web site etc... before I cross my T's and dot my I's...yes btiny36 the table is extra... I think I got a good deal here in Canada I got my for $3100.00 thats with the table... My modle is.. be your sewing machine best friend ... you'll have a friend for life. ( Now I'm thinking of giving her a name LOL!!!) Best of luck on your purchase...

so glad to hear that misspicpic...yes I am leaning towards the 7700 as well, either that or the 6600, I suppose it is trying them out after all the research
..I am so attached to my old machine but trade-in is a good price too and I can't keep everything, as I am too much like a squirrel already lol

I have recently bought a 7700 and love it!!! But I am glad I kept my little old Brother as the Horizon is soooo heavy to lug around. I take the Brother to classes as it is much easier.

I have a Janome 6500 and love it but it is not the same as a long arm. I would rather have a more simple sewing machine and save the money for a real long arm. If I could not have the real long arm I would go for the biggest opening and get the Janome 7700. You'd have lots of fun on it and you can use it to quilt full size quilts sitting down and moving the quilt around on the machine.
