Well I am now the proud owner of a 7700. They must have thought me mad in the shop- I tried FMQ with one of mys watches and I kept saying 'OMG..OMG...OMG' over and over..could not believe how smooth it sews- like a knife through butter and she purrs. I had to wrestle with my old one to get it to FMQ.. such a difference.
I started to use the 1/4 inch foot today on piecing and it is so cool-I have zipped through the rest of the quilt, am layering up the horizontal squares tomorrow..Oh Oh Oh and the harp has so much space. Hubbie went out to get materials for a table for me today- he is making me a nice table for my quilts..he is really impressed with the machine..he saw the lights on it from outside and has now fixed his lights up in the barn where he does his wood and metal work. He said mine were better and that wouldnt do !!! He is great though-spent yesterday afternoon measuring up the new table for me and helped me set up!
Thankyou so much everyone for all your help- it is a workhorse of a machine and I loved it the minute I tried it in the shop. Loads to learn on it..but starting with the basics at the moment. I absolutely love it.

I'm so excited for you! I'm going in for my final test drive and probable purchase of the 7700 on Thursday.
The only thing I've heard of the previous 6600 that the 7700 doesn't have is a bobbin low sensor.. But I don't have that now on my 6019QC so I figure I don't know what I'm missing!

Maybe I'm wrong ...... but I don't believe the 6600 has a bobbin low sensor, as I've run out of bobbin thread without any warning.

If so, please do tell me more about this, and I'll snoop around ..... please note, I'm a newbie 6600 owner, so could be wrong, and if so, I sure do want to learn about it! THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know if the 6600 does, QuiltE, but that is the only "complaint" about the 7700 I've really found reading online, that some peoples previous machines had it (not sure brand/model number). But my "previous" is mechanical, so it will all be new to me!

7UpNC ... I sure think the bobbin warning would be good. Of course, it always runs out an an inconvenient time!!
Janome has the full list of features/inclusions for their machines on their website, so you could check it for inclusions/exclusions and comparing models.

The same week I bought my 6600, a friend purchased her 7700 from the same dealer. When comparing features I remember the dealer saying that because of something on the 6600 that was not on the 7700, he preferred the 6600 (except for the larger throat, extra stitches being a bonus) . Interesting, eh? that he'd not automatically go for the higher-cost machine!

Enjoy your shopping trip 7Up!

One thing I noticed about my 7700 is that it has the free arm facility for doing hems and cuffs which the 6600 doesnt have. My dealer thought the 6600 was a little noisier- but having said that you can hardly hear the 7700 working- it is super quiet, so that me be nit-picking really. Either machine would be good but we decided on the 7700 because of the longer harp and the free arm. Hubby is already up and in the workshop cutting my table

Free arm is an issue for us too, I mend, hem all DH's pants and sleeves, and make a lot of clothing.

The 7700 has more features and would definitely be my choice if I were using it to quilt. I have a 6600 and used to be a dealer. The 6600 and 7700 are both made for more 'tabletop' quilting. Janome has a mid-arm made specifically for a frame. It is about half the price of a 6600 and only does a straight stitch, but is made for use on a frame. It is also a little more heavy duty. Congrats!

I havent tried it yet but the 7700 has a free arm facility and the 6600 does not..still getting to grips with straight lines! The lights on it are amazing.
