Mine was made with fairly busy fabrics and I wanted the piecing and the secondary patterns to stand out, so I just did an E2E.

I made a log cabin quilt with brown and green logs. Hearth center was a brown, cream and green plaid. I alternated the log cabin blocks with hand embroidered blocks on muslin, using dark green floss. Patterns for embroidery from " Aunt Martha". Don't remember set name, but featured a moose, deer, cabin, etc. One of my favorite quilts. It is currently in storage so I can't post a photo.
