Default Which machine? Juki or janome

which sewing machine would you buy for quilting? Looking at the Horizon 8900. Cost for this machine is $2500.00. Is this a good price?? Going to NH this week to look at the Juki 2010. Never seem any Juki. The ride is 2 hours away. The price for the Juki is $1000.00. I want the best for quilting. How do you like the acufeed on the Janome? There is no Juki dealers in Rhode Island that has any home machines except for industrial. Juki company offered to mail the model I was looking at so I could see it. I thought that was good customer service. I was impressed. I decided to go to the quilting show in NH instead.

I love my Juki 2010Q. It is straight stitch, mechanical rather than computerized, and it sews a beautiful stitch. It has speed control, a knee-lift (though my sewing table doesn't allow me to use this), and a wonderful automatic thread cutter (both a button and on the presser foot). I make a lot of string quilts, and I LOVE the automatic thread cutter! The speed control is wonderful because this machine can stitch reallyreally fast.

I also have the juki 2010 but it is only a straight stitch
i am looking for a ruffler foot and a walking foot that has the BAR
to fit my Juki 2010. Anyone out there know if there is one or if another brand of machine is compatible ?
What I like about the Juki is the box feed. It does NOT eat the fabric like my Esante
i did a beautiful rolled hem on a rayon top yesterday with no problem.

Another Juki TL2010q lover here! The speed control is fabulous, allowing you to set a steady consistent speed for FMQ. Very powerful and reliable. But straight stitch only which some may not like. Perfect for quilting.

I LOVE my Juki 2010 too! I bought it sight unseen in March 2013 based on reviews I read here. It's been perfect right out of the box. I never fuss with the tension. It likes just about any thread I've tried. It's fast and the stitches are nice and straight. Nice size harp. I highly recommend it.

I love my Juki! (a 2010q) It has been a dream machine right out of the box. Never a problem. The foot thread cutter is the one option I never thought I needed, now I can't live without it.

I really believe you need to test drive both machines in order to figure out what works best for you. Good Luck.

I love my Juki and really really dislike my Janome 6500. My Juki cost me $600 (lightly used) and my Janome was $2100 and the most expensive and frustrating machine I ever purchased. The company finally replaced my Janome (it was defective just as I had told them over a year earlier) and this one works satisfactorily but my Juki sews rings around it. My Juki is heavy, fast and has a beautiful even stitch. It doesn't munch fabric, balk at layers or veer off seams (all things my Janome does). You need to determine why you are buying this machine. If it is for its quilting abilities, the Juki is far better in my opinion.
