I use them all the time around my computer desk area; for me they help in preventing "crusty" dry elbows.

Aren't they kind of unsturdy, with the seams and all?

I use 2 of mine on end tables to place my lamps on. They are lovely and the perfect size.

I don't find them unsturdy and I use them all the time. You might try just making one and plan to use it as a mini wall hanging or something if you find it doesn't work for you. Mind you, I use actual coffee mugs on mine not light weight bone china tea cups. On tea cups, I don't really know. :-D

I always have my glass of water, I don't want it to tip over. So I wonder?

Finding a mug then the right fabric and the right pattern is part of the fun.

Some gal on here gave us a pattern for a paper pieced stocking mug rug last winter------------maybe someone knows who.

    I made a bunch----------gave them all away
