I've done it, too. Nobody told me I wasn't supposed to.

I have been putting batiks and prints together for years. My idea is that if it looks good together.....use it.

Kinda like - NEVER use recycled jars (back in the day, glass mayo jars) for canning!!!! Yeah - right !!! Those of us who know how to "MAKE DO" know that you use what you can get your hands on that will work and get the job done!!!

I have a question? I am taking a class at a sop that sells mostly batiks. I bought 2 fat quarters and had two old ones in my stash. I washed all 4 separately. All 4 bled. Do batiks normally bleed?

When I took my first quilt class in the 70's the instructor nixed all my ideas -- you just couldn't do that, mix embroidery with quilting, use colored quilting thread in plain blocks. She was the chief of the quilt police!

Why do you think designers are the quilt police? Did someone say you couldn't use batiks and prints together?

Do you think they have a jail big enough to hold all of us. So glad I was not aware of this law. Sometimes ignorance really is bliss.
