OMG! I have the Rowenta that won't shut itself off. It's the blue on at Joanns. The 8090 I think... anyway 6 months in the tank leak and the pump broke. I sent it to be repaired. Another 6 months and the tank is leaking again. I'm just going to use it dry, but really! Ugh. I have the $8 beauty from WalMart and another one around $15 from Shopko that doesn't shut off and they both work wonders. The only thing is I wish it has a stainless sole plate, but really they remind me to press and not iron.
I also have a nice B&D digital advantage. If I'm listening to a book it's ok, but all that dang beeping while it shuts on and off is so annoying. It only has 15 minutes, but as I left it and went to fix dinner the other day... I'm thinking I should stick with the auto on and off. (lol)
Oh... I did have the Rowenta Steam Generator... that is what they use at my LQS. Well, that dang thing blew a leak and water was coming out of the on/off button as well as everyplace else. I thought for sure it was going to catch fire and I pulled the plug.
As for the Oliso, my friend went through 3 yellow ones and all the feet failed and burnt her ironing board up good. Thanks goodness she was in the room when it happened. She finally demanded her money back. She bought it at a show and they did pay up.
I have yet to try the Reliables. I asked at a quilt shop we went to the other day and the lady said she didn't like them, but they worked. Since they start around $100, I'm thinking right now just sticking with cheapies.

I have a Rowenta Powerglide 2 (no longer made). It has no auto-shut off. It steams well and heats up very quickly. I keep thinking it'll die so about 5 years ago I bought it's replacement model (Focus) when it was on sale at JoAnns. I haven't even turned on the Focus yet, as my Powerglide 2 is still going strong. I used to use it all the time but I do a lot of PP and it's too heavy for that. I discovered using a travel size Rowenta and it worked great but only lasted a couple years when the collapsible handle broke. At $40 I wasn't willing to go buy another one at that price. I went to Target and got a Rival for less than $8. I use it dry but it can steam. It's very light in weight so my wrist doesn't get tired using it for long periods.

That thing not just dripped, the water just poured out as I used it. Then somebody pointed out to me that their appliances are "refurbished" items. Rebuilt from items that previously didn't work. Says so on the box but it didn't occur to me to read the box. I tried to take it back but they refused since I didn't have the receipt. Now I don't even look at their appliances. I thought that was bad customer service over $20 but the mgr. didn't seem to care. So be careful if you buy an appl. there.

I just purchased from my LQS a "Reliable" brand - digital velocity, and I love, love, love it, you need to read the instructions, it says only distilled water, and to hold down the right hand steam button until the light under the button
goes out (about 5 seconds) and your iron will stay continually on at the temperature you want until you want to use it. It is a nice weight and you can use it dry or steam. I leave it on usually from 5 am until 2 am the next morning, and it goes through one of the measuring cups that comes with the iron. It says only babies drool and spit, and if you use
distilled water your reliable will never do this.

My Rowenta does not have auto shut off and love it!!!! It is the Powerglide2, not sure if it is still out there for sale. Oh my goodness...this is an awesome deal....I paid alot more for mine!!!
