I do tend to get as much as I can from them, but recently I changed the blades and it had a burr in it and missed a sliver on each rotation. Grrrrr!!

I've had that happen, too. Annoying. Hate to discard a new blade, but it's a pain to use it, too, when it's skipping.

Have you tried another on out of the package? If they are all nicked, take the back where you bought the and ask for a refund.
I was fighting the same problem you have....sometimes it felt like the darn thing had a flat tire, it would bump bump across the mat. Then sometimes, I would get the one or two threads that didn't cut. I put in a new blade from a new packing and have cut out two quilts with it and it is doing fine.
I think I kept nicking the blade on my ruler when I first put the cutter next to it, I would get on the mat...I have been especially careful when setting the cutter next to my mat since buying the new blades.

Hancock's of Paducah also has some great deals on blades - especially during this week with the quilt show in progress.

Thanks for the tip on the sharpener. I just ordered one. Hopefully that will extend the life of my blades.

I found the hard way that it pays to keep a sharp blade in the cutter. I was working late on the Komfort Kids contest last August and ended up getting 4 stitches in left index finger after nearly cutting the end of my finger off - all because I didn't want to take the time to change the blade. I was having to go back over the cuts to pick up the missed spots and got a little carried away, I guess.

Don't you hate a dull blade? or one that skips!! I keep all my blades, seems dangerous and wrong to just dump them in the trash.

Has anyone tried the L P Sharp Company.. they are on the web and they will exchange used blades for sharp ones, or new ones. I'm not sure exactly how it works.. 2 for 1 I believe. You can also buy new blades from them. Has anyone tried their service?

I bought the cheapest cutter I could find and marked it "OLD". I use old blades to cut paper, vinyl, whatever, even cork once.
