It's fine. They will not see the imperfections that you are worrying about. Someone said put it away for a couple of days and look again. They are right. I've had mistakes on quilts that I wanted to fix later and unless I mark the error in some way I usually can't find it when I go back to do the fix.

I made a tablerunner like that and I use it because I love the fabrics and the pattern. What the back looks like, no one knows. The front is pretty and any imperfections, I forgot about quickly. Definitely, no one else would think to notice 'mistakes' anyway. It's handmade and the thought is what counts.

Unless your in-laws are excellent quilters, they will not notice your perceived imperfections.
When you are making a quilt and thinking good thoughts about the person who will be receiving it - that is a gift in itself.
Beautiful quilt - they will love it because it is from you.

I agree with everyone else, you are being too hard on yourself. They will never notice the areas that you think are mistakes. If the wonky back really bothers you, fix it--it's only 3 inches, but I think it's fine the way it is. They will love it.
