I agree with your SIL. And your nephew will cherish the quilt knowing his grandma is in that fabric.
Four years ago my Dear neighbor across the street passed from a brain tumor. She is the one that started me on my path to quilting. After she passed, her husband brought me all her sewing stash, sewing machine, and a project she had started while they were on their last trip to Florida. It was a lap quilt for ME, with doggies on it. She actually fussy cut some of the dogs that looked like my Gussie. I finished up the quilt top with tears in my eyes the whole time I was working on it. But every time I look at it and caress it I feel her with me. What can be better than that?!?!?

The ripple effect this gift has for the receiver will go forever.
I believe that a gift like this will be treasured forever by several generations.....and because of your generosity of time and love, I cannot help but believe that it will come back to you in ways you did not expect.

How wonderful, brings a tear to my eye. There are often no words to describe such a kind and loving gift. I am ten years younger than all my siblings and I had two children who had not yet married when Mom passed away in 1997. Mom had made a quilt for each of our sons to be given to them when they got married. Our youngest son recently got married. We took he and his new wife to dinner after they returned from their honeymoon and gave him the quilt from his Grandmother. He grabbed it and put it up to his nose and said "aw, it smells just like her". And of course I cried. I miss her so much.
