Default Personalized Child's Quilt Pattern

Does anyone have a pattern for a child's quilt with the name on it? Preferably machine embroidered name. But applique letters would be ok too. I was hoping for the letters to be 5"? And then surround the letters with blocks.
I'm not so good with designing things, but can follow a pattern with great success. Or just instructions. I hate to buy all the fabric and just go at it not knowing if it will work out right.

Thanks in advance.

I'm planning to do the same thing... I was just going to look for fonts online and print them to use as a template. I think you can search Google for "applique letters" and find some that are free.

I've never purchased a pattern with letters. If I see a pattern I like, I just make a few adjustments to it, and put squares where I want the lettering to be. I also either go online , or I use Microsoft Office to make my own templet's. It's very easy. One day when my printer was out of ink. I just put a sheet of paper on screen and traced. Didn't have to waste ink, Google girls/boy/baby quilt and look how and where they put the names.

I am just finishing a quilt like this. I found some font letters on the web - closer to 4 inches I think. I machine appliqued those on to a square, then made a square in square block with different colors, then lined them up, sewed them together and created a band going through the middle of the quilt. In this case, did it for the back. It looks really nice - will post a photo when I'm back home.

I sometimes applique the child's name on the border, or if I make a quilt with some embroidered blocks I put the name as the center block.

If I want to add a name, I make a quilt, then embroider the name onto the quilt. I just put the name wherever it would most suit the quilt. The other thing I do is follow a pattern and either add a border, or make the border larger so the same can be added to the border.

Here is a pattern I have used before and embroidered messages of different sizes on the different size blocks...

I bought some block letters when the local grocery store was closing and everything was half off. You could get the same things I am sure at Walmart. There was an episode of F&P that had one of their guest use lettering on a quilt.

Thumbs up

I have just used word software, pick out a nice fat font and print them on paper the size I want, trace on fusible, rough cut and then iron on the back of fabric. Next I applique them with a machine blanket stitch!

Here is an example of a simple child's quilt with an embroidered name on it. You could enlarge the letters as much as you want. I made this quilt but don't have an embroidery machine so I appliqued larger letters where she has appliqued hers. You could use any pattern you want and just add a strip for the name like was done here.

This is the back of a baby quilt I made not that long ago. I cut the letters with my Go cutter and used a blanket stitch. But you can cut out any font and make the same.
