I love mine. I just wish I had thought up something that Simplicity would want to buy. They have bought it up and improved it. It now has a lot of new features and will work with all machines. Of course, the price is now $100.00!! I saw the new ones in Keepsake Quilting's catalog.
My older machine could wind a bobbin while you sewed and I miss that.

I inherited one and I love it!! When my Longarm refills the bobbin, its needle goes up and down....disastorous if you're in the middle of the quilt....would destroy the quilt. I use the cone threads to fill the bobbin, too. I put the cone up high on the machine, and thread thru the winder. Works beautifully!

My sister has one and she swears by it. However, I think it's just a waste of money. Most machines have a bobbin winder on them, so why spend your money on something that's already on your machine? You could put your money towards ( like more fabric!). These little machines are pricey too. It is too easy to spend a lot of money when one walks into a JoAnns or quilt shop. If I spend my money I would rather do it on quality fabric since that's where the most use will be.

It's this easy: spend your money wisely. Ask yourself do you want it or need it.

Gotta go to my granddaughter's birthday party.....she gets the quilt I just made her.....

I bought one..and don't use it. It's just not convienient. I found that it doesn't wind evenly. And when your in the middle of a quilt and run out of bobbin its better to get up and stretch and grab some coffee..wind a bobbin or two. Nice idea though.

I bought one a while back from overstock and when I started to use it a few days ago it is dead. Maybe my DH can look at it and maybe fix it. Had big plans, but fron all the nays I may get disgused too and let it gather dust.

Then when I use up a bobbin, I put it in the "empty" bottle and continue to do that until I am out of filled bobbins (of the color I am using). Then I just take some relaxing time, fill up all the bobbins and I am good to go for at least three quilts. No problem, no wasting time, refilling the bobbin, there is always one there for me!

I think the bobbin winder is the next best thing to the Calcu-Quilt. I love that thing too. Edie
Thanks for the pill bottle idea!

Nay for me, I just do wind a bunch of them and then store them in this cool thing I bought for $3 at the quilt show, It holds a bunch of bobbins and I have different colored ones for different sized bobbins.

I just saw in a new magazine issue that they have come out with another one that has interchangable spindles for your bobbin and now works for all types. It also allows you to wind from a cone of thread. I have an original one, love it, but you do have to watch the tension and I hold the button down til I think the bobbin is full, when left to its own devices, it only half filled my bobbins. The new model seemed to have an OFF button as well, so maybe it fills til you say stop now? I have a Pfaff 2038 and the original one works fine with my bobbins, I think it wouldn't work for the ones on the Vision and maybe the newer models of Pfaff.

I like it because I don't like to piddle around with my machine, at least the old singer..can't say I've ever wound a bobbin on the Pfaff  I wouldn't say its a must have, but it must be cheaper than having the winder on your machine repaired :D

I don't think they're made to last long, so maybe next time I'll try the new and improved version!! Then again, it may suprise me and outlast me
