I agree - get it ALL out of the way into baskets or boxes or whatever you have (even the corner on the floor). At least that way the entire room will look better and you may enjoy working in there.
Do you know how to eat an elephant????:p ONE BITE at a time! Work on ONE PIECE of fabric at a time.

You did not accumulate all that in one day...or probably not even one month.... don't expect it to be done overnight.

I recently finished up my fabric and IT WAS a tough job  - but NOW IT"S DONE, DONE, DONE

YOU can DO IT - Put on some fun music and work away. You'll be done before you know it. Try a goal to be done by the end of March - that'll give you a whole month.

OMG, that looks like my sister's sewing room !!!
Get yourself some of those large clear Sterlite tote boxes so you can see through them. Label them Reds, Blues, Browns, Mixed Color Prints, etc., and start throwing stuff in the right one.

Gosh, where in New York are you? I would help you just for the satisfaction of having accomplished it!

Good Tactic! .... then you'd have them sorted and can deal with the folding later. I use the large flat ones that are about 6-8" deep. That way I can fold large pieces and stand on end across the width. FQs and smaller pieces still stand in there nicely on display. A quick look in the box and I can see what I want.

I LOVE TO ORGANIZE. yeah, I know that's wierd... but I have been like that as long as I can remember. I even got a promotion once for being such a good organizer. Anyway having said all that... I wish you lived closer I would be there in a heartbeat. I would just love to get into that pile of beautiful fabric and see it all neet and tidy on boards.
I dont travel much any more or I could help. Sorry

Wish I didn't live so far away. It's always more fun to organize someone elses stuff for whatever reason. Good luck.
