I say, pick a pile and start at the top. Set a timer for 1 hour, this way you can get a little done at a time.
Go in several times a day, you can have it done within a week. Make sure you have shelves ready to put the organized fabric on. |
Fold each piece nice and neet pile them per color then store. you can store by yardage or color. I work at Joanns part time and I fold the fabric in 1/2 long ways then in 1/2 again then fold sideways a couple times that works wonderful. good luck to ya. We all know the pain.

I need your help to doing the same thing. I live In Pennsylvania by the Lake. |
I would if I lived closer to you. Then I could give you my boxtops. lolol

You have a wonderful selection of fabrics so it is time to give them their due! Set up the ironing board, put on a movie, and press as much as you have space to lay flat. Then take the iron off the ironing board and using the 6-6.5" wide rulers start folding on the iron board (fabric drapes nicely and stays so pretty). Start making stacks according to color, Civil War,
1930s, batik, blenders, however you want to organize it. It will truly inspire you but remember it may take a week to do it. So many great ideas here on the board! |
I have a similar situation... Ugh!

Will try this one more time. Keeps saying the QB is not responding and will not post my message.
Wish I was closer! I'd be glad to help. It's always more fun working on someone else's stash. I've been doing a lot of sorting, destashing, rearranging, reorganizing, downsizing in my sewing room. I have found starting with 15 or 20 minute sessions works well. If I am on a roll and want to keep going, then I just work until I am ready to quit. Really helped and after you get some of it done, the rest gets easier. |
Wish I could help, but I'm on the opposite coast! :) Good luck!

Get some comic book boards and start! You take the normal folded yardage and fold it once more, lengthwise. Then it's the perfect width to wrap around a comic book board.
You will be so glad when you have it all organized, easy to pull fabrics for a quilt. |
