Oooh April, I'll help. I love do things like that. Sorry we're not closer. Honestly you'll find fabric in there you totally forgot about.

I just want to know how to fold fabric on comic book boards. Then I could sort etc. I think this is what you need.I like 15 minute challenges too.

Take a small pile into another room to fold so you won't be distracted by what is left to do.
Sneak some into your dried laundry & pretend you're folding towels. Find a great book - read a chapter - fold some pieces - read a chapter - fold some pieces. Tell yourself you can't have that cup of coffee or whatever until you fold 5 pieces. Tuck some in your pocketbook & fold while you are stuck in traffic. Yep - we still like to play games no matter how old we are. :) |
I would love to help, but I'm in the Chicago area and you're in New York. As someone already mntioned, start folding 15 minutes at a time. You'll be surprised at how much you can get folded in 15 min! Setting a time limit makes it a little more manageable and not so boring. After a while, you'll find yourself doing more than 15 min. at a time and then you'll get it done in no time!

Your stash looks neat compared to mine. I really need to get it organized. At least you can see your fabric.

Has anyone considered rolling fabric instead of folding (half yard or less)? I've started doing this and its pretty nice because I can really see what I have.
|
Adding - when I was redoing my fabric - I would spend about 1-2 hours ironing and folding...but LOVE to iron fabric. It's my thinking time....it was MY TIME to relax

I was thinking have totes ready, but once it's in your hand, fold or roll it, rather than creating a future project. That's MHO. Do you have a plan? Could pulling out coordinating fabrics to iron & cut for a scrappy quilt organize it better? Wish I lived closer. I LOVE to play in fabric!
QUOTE=CircleSquare;5023820]OMG, that looks like my sister's sewing room !!! Get yourself some of those large clear Sterlite tote boxes so you can see through them. Label them Reds, Blues, Browns, Mixed Color Prints, etc., and start throwing stuff in the right one.[/QUOTE] |

I would love to help, but it's a bit far. One suggestion I could make is to do some sorting, then put some of it into bags or boxes and work on one bag or box at the time. It won't be so intimidating.
