WOW! You all have such beautiful stars!!

Disclaimer: My stars are going to pail in comparison but I hope you feel that the friendship I put into each one makes it special enough to be with all these beautiful ones.

Shelly, yours will look wonderful in with all the others, not to worry..the requirements said nothing about "complex" star blocks..

Shellyp, we need a mix of simple to complex stars to make our quilts beautiful. Mine is a simple star. :D

Dorothy of Kansas 01-06-2009 10:08 AM

My Star is a simple one, too. After seeing all the beautiful ones, I was a bit worried that mine might be too plain. But what Jstitch said is true. We need the "simple" ones to make the others shine even more and to give your eyes a place to "rest" between the blocks. I haven't put a picture of mine, yet, but they are all done. I took a pattern and modified it.

shellyp 01-06-2009 10:25 AM

That makes me feel better. I just felt like maybe I got in over my head.

sandpat 01-06-2009 12:34 PM

Shelly, I really think the simple stars are the prettiest. I like to make myself do something challenging for these swaps so I learn something. Buy...I'd take a quilt of simple stars anyday

mgshaw 01-06-2009 01:08 PM

I am going to do a second set and it will be a simpler star, not that my first one was real elaborate ! I mainly want to send in 24 blocks so I can get a better share of all these gorgeous blocks

Butterflyspain 01-06-2009 01:13 PM

Melissa, I am No. 11, its taken me some time to get these done, but I have cracked it and am blazing away now. I know what you mean about doing 24, if there are 30 in this swap then we stand a better chance of getting a really lovely selection. Wonder if I can make another 12.

Watch this space LOL

mgshaw 01-06-2009 01:20 PM

Elle, you can do it!!!!!! Wonder if Judy would let us do an odd number! :D I am greedy I know!!!! I just want them all!!!! :D

Melissa, Someone asked me this question early on in the exchange, when we didnt have as many participants...and I had to turn them down,

So, Im thinking its not fair to change the rules now and let you do odd numbers.. but you can do as many multiples of 12 as you like...

mgshaw 01-06-2009 01:42 PM

Oh I know Judy and I agree with the rules, I was just joking, trying to make the point that I would love to have one of everbodies blocks!!!! Just greedy! :D

sewsewquilter 01-06-2009 04:01 PM

I know want you mean Melissa. I want one of all of them too!

They are all so pretty!!!

I have 5 done need to finish this 12. Maybe.... I can do a second 12. But that just makes more blocks to want one of. LOL

I am going to try to do a second set. I want to use them to make a quilt for my quest bed. I think it will make a great conversation piece. :D

sandpat 01-06-2009 04:08 PM

Well, I have 6 done and 6 more to go. I'm not sure if I'm going for the 2nd set or not right now...We'll see..I have lots of other projects that I'm itching to start and I still have to start quilting Heartsong.

Ok. Sat down today with my fabric and pattern and put together the star block I had selected. It was in the new Fons and Porter magazine. Finished it and it is 14.5 not 12.5. Oh well, it will make a great quilt later and I'm back to the drawing board.

Pattern says it's a 12 inch block. Oh well, I like it anyway.

I like it too! Didn't think Fons and Porter made mistakes!

Well, I was going to say, check your seam allowances,, but two inches is a bit too much to be that..

Its a beautiful block, would you like me to resize the cutting directions for you? I would be happy to give it a try...

Well, I just noticed that it is the same as the block in my Avatar, except the center square..

I'm auditioning stars for my blue/white star exchange. I'm using the fabrics for my Row Robin, so am making stars for that also.

Here is star #1

Here is first star for RowRobin-Christmas blocks, maybe my blue/white???

Purple I always look first and read after - I thought maybe you were color-blind!! LOL I like your block though. It will be nice in your Christmas row robin.

OK. Here is another block I am making (being the other block was to big). It's not as fancy as some. I have to admit I am intimidated by the talent I see here. Anyway, be kind, here is a simple star block.

A simpler block, but a least it's the right size.

No need to ask for kindness, that is a beauty...

beachlady 01-07-2009 03:08 PM

That one is also very nice littlehud. Love the fabric you used.

sandpat 01-07-2009 04:23 PM

Littlehud...that one is perfect!!! I love your colors..sure hope I get one of those..oh heck, I say that about all of them. I bet I've said it more than 12 times already

MJ-- that is my very favorite star block. I used it in Heartsong. I love to make it and it always looks good. I like it for your RR too!

Janstar 01-07-2009 05:01 PM

Everyone's blocks are so beautiful! Mine is a bit on the simple side too, but I also agree, we need some simple ones. You have all done great!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is my first crack at a block.. need to perfect those outside points, but other than that, I think it is a keeper..what do you think?

Melissa, do you recognize this one?

Butterflyspain 01-10-2009 12:50 PM

Very nice and very different with a white star. Like that one.

Elle

littlehud 01-10-2009 01:57 PM

That's so pretty. I love the white star. Something alittle different.

mgshaw 01-10-2009 02:06 PM

Wow! I love it Judy!!!! I had to go back and look at my pictures, but I found it!! It sure looks different with the different color way!!!! What is the name of that one?

jstitch 01-10-2009 02:10 PM

It is called Rocket Star.
I dont think it was intended for a 12 inch block, as it was pretty hard to draft and I had to make the center 9 patch out of uneven patches...

anyway, I kind of like it and when it is put block to block it makes a secondary design, very cool.. Ill make a full quilt of this one one day.

sandpat 01-10-2009 02:23 PM

Yeppers Judy...that one is a keeper for sure!! I'm just hoping one of those will go into my pile

I finished mine today! Off now to the next project!
