Lately that's been my day to quilt. Rest of the week is full with work tasks.

Your mom might have felt quilting was work so they didn't do it on Sunday. But I quilt on Sunday because it is a nice quiet day to have my own space and time. And consider it fun not work.
Maybe that is the difference between then and now?

Good Monday all - Since I hand quilt, sitting a frame can be VERY RELAXING for me. After church if I'm not busy w/family, I enjoy quilting - it can be a nice quiet time to reflect on the spiritual mood of my church family & the many blessings God has given me.

Have a blessed day & may all your quilts be filled w/love

I do too. If I am home evenings and weekends, I sew then since I work full time. My (retired) hubby will often come sit with me in the sewing room to keep me company (really he's raiding my candy jar, but that's OK). He has his hobbies too and is older than most of his friends, so weekends are when they can all get together.

I can't see a good reason not to do just about anything you want on a Sunday, Christian or not.

At our house Sunday is "family day." That is how I grew up. We go to church with our 13 and 14 yr old boys. After lunch we try to do something together as a family. Yesterday it was playing
"H-O-R-S-E" around the basketball hoop. It was 82 degrees in Milwaukee yesterday-it will be the middle of July before it is that warm again. I think when the kids leave I will still try to leave Sunday as a day to do something with my husband. No, it isn't work, but it is a day to remind me of the "important things" BUT, if they are out of town on a Scout trip, all bets are off and I am quilting. :)
