I got 12 blocks made today. Is there some place else where we should post our block numbers?

sharon b 06-17-2010 06:59 PM

And as always I am already behind  LOL Maybe tomorrow

Bernice H in Calif 06-18-2010 09:33 AM

Melinda in Tulsa 06-18-2010 01:16 PM

The wonderful part is it's easy to get caught up or ahead. Don't know if our moderater is going to whip us with a wet noodle if we don't keep up! LOL

Ok, I'll be the first. Four days, four blocks - easy peasy. These are 12" blocks, so in no time, I'll have another quilt top for the CitizenSAM project. This will be number 6 since Memorial Day, and the pile of red, white & blue doesn't seem to be shrinking.

Nine patches aren't in my usual rotation, so I'm enjoying the heck out of this.

What are you doing?

sewnsew 06-18-2010 02:37 PM

Love how you've done your 9 patches.

Dagny 06-18-2010 02:39 PM

There's a link for this pattern earlier in the thread.

Melinda in Tulsa 06-18-2010 04:03 PM

How pretty! Mine were just simple 5" squares to make up a 9 patch. Don't know if I'm going to cut them into a D9P or not. I'm making a baby quilt out of this set of blocks. I have tons and tons of 4 & 5 inch blocks. Much for fun to just sew instead of cutting and sewing! Right now I'm just sticking to the easier the better pattern!

Andy323 06-18-2010 07:26 PM

I think that I am going to dig out my Christmas FQ's and cut some strips, and mix up the stips to make all the blocks different! I love making them with strip sets....it might be interesting if at the end someone wants to host a swap of a certain type of the 9 patches...patriotic, Christmas, solids....whatever...especially cool because of the different sizes....I am in the mood to look at my Christmas fabrics, as it is hotter than blazes here in Texas right now....I am ready for some snowmen....(the ones on fabric that is...) LOL Plus, this type of mindless sewing is good for the creative soul...it gives you time to think about color and who knows what inspiration may come your way! I think I will start tonight!

Andy323 06-18-2010 07:26 PM

oh yeah....

Swan Song 06-18-2010 10:42 PM

I have added Bernice and Andy. Welcome! :-)

OK now that they have worked me to death for 2 nights I am ready to get back to some serious sewing! Amazing how three 2 lb. babies can wear you out and turn a 12 hr. shift into a 14 1/2 hr shift. I may finally have caught up on my sleep! But as you can see I from the time I am still backwards. :-( It's 2:30 AM! The household is asleep so a perfect time for some sewing :-D

Awesome blocks Dagny!

Swan Song 06-18-2010 10:50 PM

I also figured out how to add your pics to the activity page! Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks. You can see Dagny's blocks from the activity page now. Let's see if I can keep up with y'all!

Dagny 06-19-2010 04:56 AM

Andy, that's a great idea! You'll have a jump on whatever comes along at Christmas time.

seamstress 06-20-2010 09:30 AM

I have made a D4P but never thought about D9P cut that way.
Very pretty.

letsquilt 06-20-2010 10:42 AM

Swan Song 06-20-2010 11:20 AM

I see that when I add the link to your pictures to the "Group Activities" page it sends you a PM. Who knew!

I'll have this all figured out by the time we are done.

Swan Song 06-20-2010 11:25 AM

Those blocks are really great. It will make one of my little table topper projects go very quickly if I can make it work. I am off to give it a whirl!

I have added the link to the tute to the "Links" page. Remember you can get to that page thru the "Group Activities" page.

TammyD 06-20-2010 11:25 AM

Very Pretty! Is the pattern online?

Swan Song 06-20-2010 11:27 AM

Yes, Tammy, I just added it to the "Links" page so you can find it easily. It is the last post on the links currently.

Karen, thank you so much for the link to the 4 patch/D9P. I have saved it and will be trying it out. This is a great project for leader and enders!

oksewglad 06-20-2010 02:28 PM

quilt queen 2--great contrast in the D4P. I think I like that one better than the DP9

zjsquiltymomma 06-20-2010 05:34 PM

quiltqueen2, your blocks are very pretty! I love the color combinations you've picked.

Just to let you all know I used 3 1/2" squares but you can change them smaller or larger

oksewglad 06-20-2010 11:17 PM

I got three simple 9 patches done out of 2 inch squares. Guess I'm behind already. Going to make a pastel quilt I think.

Me too, really going to have to play catch up but think they will go fast once I get the material sorted and cut!! It is going to be so much fun!

fliedermaus 06-21-2010 10:40 AM

I have so much catching up to do! Went to see one of my favourite bands at the weekend and made a long weekend out of it so have not done any quilting for four days!!! I started having withdrawal!!

Dagny 06-21-2010 10:45 AM

Where's our headmistress with her ruler?

Swan Song 06-21-2010 10:52 AM

I have finished thirteen 3" blocks. BUT, I did them this morning so I am a slacker! Now I am ahead. :D I am piecing the first topper now and may have a picture this evening. I am not promising anything though. I have figured out the new machine. Only one broken needle in the process. First lesson learned do not turn off the machine and then turn it on without checking the settings. :| I will be really careful with the camera, who knows what I can break there.

Swan Song 06-21-2010 10:53 AM

HaHa right on cue huh?! OK everyone let's see some blocks appearing!

I have 8 blocks completed {12"} But I hope to have pics by this week-end ,,,,,,fingers crossed LOL

amy WI 06-21-2010 11:48 AM

I sewed pairs and then pinned the third piece on all of my rows. After I add the third piece I will only have to grab 3 rows to sew together everyday. I have 6 done right now. I love that I used up so many scraps.

JudyG 06-21-2010 02:32 PM

I finished 24 patches from 2-1/2" squares today and am working on some 1-1/2" squares, so I am in good shape for awhile. I have to confess I am going to have some help with whatever this is going to be. My friend who has MS wants to make a quilt for her grandson but has no use of her legs. I took down one of my machines that she can sew with using the start/stop button. I thought it would be good for her to practice sewing with it before she tries working on the blocks for the quilt she wants to make, so I took down a bunch of 3-1/2" squares so she can make some 9 patches with them for me and get in some practice on the machine. She's have some fun getting to do something that she normally would be able to do. Isn't technology wonderful?
