Updated average (thru misoop) is 57.7 years old (356 replies for 20,556 years).

Carole Vaden 04-28-2011 05:55 AM

68 for another two weeks

quiltmom04 04-28-2011 05:55 AM

57 - which I have such a hard time believing. Mostly I feel about 35, unless I get together with my college friends - then I feel 18. So, put all of those down!

Diamondrose 04-28-2011 05:56 AM

64 3/4 - years young and counting the days till I turn 65

Jo Belmont 04-28-2011 05:56 AM

Yep. I pulled the averages from that previous thread. There were about 500 who replied and from about 325 forward, the average was consistently held at 57-1/2 years very, very young.

We also pretty much concluded that the majority of us would like to have begun much earlier, but family, kids, jobs, college and careers simply got in the way until much later.

carslo 04-28-2011 05:57 AM

53 and I have been quilting a few years!

grannyp70 04-28-2011 06:00 AM

70 and if that makes me an old woman so be it. LOL LOL

grandma.me 04-28-2011 06:00 AM

67 and proud of it. I have been quilting for 30+ years and I have made so many friends some younger than me and some older than me, but in our minds we were all same age, and we all had so much in common.

54, but only have been quilting for 8 years. Sewing for 39 years.

mpspeedy 04-28-2011 06:05 AM

I'm 60.

wvdek 04-28-2011 06:05 AM

I'll be 56 on Sat. and my DH does not think I am 'old' by any means.
I sit around with other students half my age or less and we have great conversations and fun. Tell your dh HE is the old poop and you are only as old as you feel and if he feels old, get up, get moving, do something for someone else, shut up or put up. Oops, and my sugar is just fine.
I am a bit feistier at this age than 30 years ago!

tntgranny 04-28-2011 06:05 AM

60 - but quilting inspires my creative side and when I'm doing it I feel like 20.

AnnT 04-28-2011 06:05 AM

I'm 57 and my 12 year old grandson is facsinated by my quilting. Watches me cut and sew a good bit. He's asked if I will teach him how and of course I will!

kimscruzer 04-28-2011 06:06 AM

I hit the big 50 this past March !

shirleyd 04-28-2011 06:07 AM

69. And it looks like us oldies are in the minority! That surprises me. I'm amazed how all you "young folks" (anyone younger than me) find time to quilt while raising families and having jobs! It shows the joy of quilting! I just started last year but have sewn for most of my life; started in 4-H at a young age. :-)

aborning 04-28-2011 06:08 AM

I am 48 and have ben quilting 4 years. But have been an avid sewer since I was 18. I think nowadays, the fad is more that only "old ladies" sew because taht almost seems to be a thing of the past and quilting seems to be moving in to the younger generations now.

75 Really, really old. Still addicted. Been quilting since 1976 and still love every minute. Never bored with it. I have 5 projects waiting for me, and many UFOs that I don't feel in the least guilty about. Love this site by the way.

My father always told me you should always be older than 18 so you could do whatever you wanted, but never be as old as 21 so you couldn't be held responsible for what you did! Now seeing that they are charging 10 year olds as adults I guess that goes by the way side and lets you know how old I am...will turn 60 in June and happy to have lived every year!

LindaMRB 04-28-2011 06:17 AM

almost 62
and I don't tell very many folks about it.

I am older than most of the women in my local quilt group, but not by much.
I came to quilting late although I have been sewing since I took home economics in elementary school...

cafegold2 04-28-2011 06:19 AM

Oh thank goodness. I will be 71 in two weeks.

quilterpam 04-28-2011 06:19 AM

I'm 66 but not old!!! 8-)

cizzors 04-28-2011 06:19 AM

I'm 48. Wish I would have started quilting years ago, though - my eyes aren't cooperating when trying to thread my hand needle!

jad1044 04-28-2011 06:24 AM

12 for my granddaughter if that helps bring the average down, but 66 for me!

marthe brault-hunt 04-28-2011 06:25 AM

I turned 70, two weeks ago,

juliea9967 04-28-2011 06:25 AM

I am 67. There are a whole bunch of ladies in our quilt guild that are younger than me, and a whole bunch that are older. Guess that sort of puts me in the middle somewhere. Right?

lindy-2 04-28-2011 06:25 AM

25 gess im one of the younger ones started quilting when i was 22 so that should bring the average down a bit

Changed my avitar after reading your post.

My grandmother and mother traveled to Berea Kentucky each fall to enjoy the leaves. found this info on web- The folk arts and crafts capital of Kentucky! ... Berea has just been named among the "Nation's Top 25 Arts Destinations" by AmericanStyle magazine.

I am so happy I was the one that could save this picture after they both passed away.. Little old lady your husband must be thinking of.

DonnaC 04-28-2011 06:28 AM
