68 for another two weeks
57 - which I have such a hard time believing. Mostly I feel about 35, unless I get together with my college friends - then I feel 18. So, put all of those down!
64 3/4 - years young and counting the days till I turn 65
Yep. I pulled the averages from that previous thread. There were about 500 who replied and from about 325 forward, the average was consistently held at 57-1/2 years very, very young.
We also pretty much concluded that the majority of us would like to have begun much earlier, but family, kids, jobs, college and careers simply got in the way until much later. |
53 and I have been quilting a few years!
70 and if that makes me an old woman so be it. LOL LOL
67 and proud of it. I have been quilting for 30+ years and I have made so many friends some younger than me and some older than me, but in our minds we were all same age, and we all had so much in common.

54, but only have been quilting for 8 years. Sewing for 39 years.

I'm 60.

I'll be 56 on Sat. and my DH does not think I am 'old' by any means.
I sit around with other students half my age or less and we have great conversations and fun. Tell your dh HE is the old poop and you are only as old as you feel and if he feels old, get up, get moving, do something for someone else, shut up or put up. Oops, and my sugar is just fine. I am a bit feistier at this age than 30 years ago! |
60 - but quilting inspires my creative side and when I'm doing it I feel like 20.
I'm 57 and my 12 year old grandson is facsinated by my quilting. Watches me cut and sew a good bit. He's asked if I will teach him how and of course I will!
I hit the big 50 this past March !
69. And it looks like us oldies are in the minority! That surprises me. I'm amazed how all you "young folks" (anyone younger than me) find time to quilt while raising families and having jobs! It shows the joy of quilting! I just started last year but have sewn for most of my life; started in 4-H at a young age. :-)
I am 48 and have ben quilting 4 years. But have been an avid sewer since I was 18. I think nowadays, the fad is more that only "old ladies" sew because taht almost seems to be a thing of the past and quilting seems to be moving in to the younger generations now.

75 Really, really old. Still addicted. Been quilting since 1976 and still love every minute. Never bored with it. I have 5 projects waiting for me, and many UFOs that I don't feel in the least guilty about. Love this site by the way.

I will be 63 in June, from L'Anse, MI :}

57 here in New Jersey.

My father always told me you should always be older than 18 so you could do whatever you wanted, but never be as old as 21 so you couldn't be held responsible for what you did! Now seeing that they are charging 10 year olds as adults I guess that goes by the way side and lets you know how old I am...will turn 60 in June and happy to have lived every year!
almost 62
and I don't tell very many folks about it. I am older than most of the women in my local quilt group, but not by much. I came to quilting late although I have been sewing since I took home economics in elementary school... |
Oh thank goodness. I will be 71 in two weeks.
I'm 66 but not old!!! 8-)
I'm 48. Wish I would have started quilting years ago, though - my eyes aren't cooperating when trying to thread my hand needle!

I turned 70, two weeks ago,
I am 67. There are a whole bunch of ladies in our quilt guild that are younger than me, and a whole bunch that are older. Guess that sort of puts me in the middle somewhere. Right?
25 gess im one of the younger ones started quilting when i was 22 so that should bring the average down a bit

Changed my avitar after reading your post.
My grandmother and mother traveled to Berea Kentucky each fall to enjoy the leaves. found this info on web- The folk arts and crafts capital of Kentucky! ... Berea has just been named among the "Nation's Top 25 Arts Destinations" by AmericanStyle magazine. I am so happy I was the one that could save this picture after they both passed away.. Little old lady your husband must be thinking of. |
I'm 53 and I know quilters of all ages!
