when things go wrong....
STOP and try and figure ut why they go wrong. Is it in the cutting.....sewing etc etc. After the first seam is sewn, stop and measure. If they are not the size they are supposed to be then find out why. Slow down and check, check and over check. The time will br worth it. |
Lots of things in general that don't always happen. Sometimes the 1/4 is off, not always. Most of the time the points are good, but not always, etc. The thing that is always off is sashings. No matter how I measure, plan, etc. they don't line up. Ever. ARRRGGGHHH

I tend to be a perfectionist and I beat myself up too much thinking nothing about my quilting is ever good enough.

I don't worry about my quilting flaws. If someone points them out I just say you can worry about it for me. I have taken quilts to show and tell that were gosh awful colors, no matching points, wavy borders and I hold it up and say look at this one I made.

My flaw is that I hardly ever finish a project. I love piecing, but I'm not much of a quilter so I have plenty of UFOs.

My biggest flaw is I have too many going at the same time, & not enough hours in the day to quilt them.

but I did break a record recently...I went six weeks without a fabric purchase! no, really! I made one two days ago online bc I am starting a project and already had a yard of something and wanted another yard. Weeeeell, since i could get free shipping at 35.00...I needed a few more things...but that's ok. most of them will go in the project :XD: Now to start on a new record...one day at a time. I find that staying offline and cleaning helps...but it doesn't get my sewing done :roll: |
Flaws in my quilting are many....but that's ok because I never have to deliberately make a flawed block to let everyone know that I believe only God is perfect.

You know what? Puckers don't bug me. I've occasionally gotten some when piecing because....well, mis matched seams DOES bug me. I will deal with a pucker in a block to make sure my seams match. My last quilt was the first one on my new machine, and I hadn't gotten my 1/4 seam sorted out yet. That one had quite a few puckers in the top. I did go buy a 1/4 foot after that and the next one was pucker free lol. But you couldn't even notice once it was all quilted and washed...*I* couldn't even find them and I was looking for something I *knew* was there! lol
I haven't yet encountered puckers on my quilt back...I'm sure I will, eventually! LOL It will completely depend on the size of it to determine if I rip it out. |
